Five buildings in Yorkshire have won prestigious awards aimed at highlighting "great architecture" across the country.
The awards, for two buildings in South Yorkshire, one in North Yorkshire and two in West Yorkshire, were presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba) at a special ceremony in Leeds last night.
The winners were
- Mercia School in Sheffield (pictured above)
- The Hollis Building in Sheffield
- The Weston at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield
- The Great Barn at Bolton Abbey
- Merrion House in Leeds
Stephen Hill, Riba regional jury chair, said: "Whether careful adaptations of historic buildings, the reinvigoration of a tired 70s office or a completely new building, these are all thoughtful and considered projects each exhibiting their own special qualities."
