    Police in Hull have arrested half a dozen people - aged between 14 and 54 - while seizing "a significant amount" of drugs and cash.

    Officers carried out warrants at two addresses on Kilnsea Grove in Hull yesterday morning and made six arrests on suspicion of drugs offences.

    A 49-year-old woman, 28-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were arrested at one address and a 54-year-old man, 47-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy arrested at the other, with all released under investigation.

    Humberside Police said it was "another great example of our fight against drug crime in Hull" with officers seizing drugs paraphernalia, phones and weapons.

    A police dog tracked down a man suspected of stealing lead from a church roof in East Yorkshire.

    The dog, called Puck, was scrambled yesterday after a report of a theft from a church in North Cave and he found a man hiding behind a shed in a nearby garden.

    The man was taken into custody and his van was seized by officers, according to Humberside Police.

    A man is wanted by police after a woman accused him of behaving indecently in a park in Batley.

    The woman was sat on a bench near the lake in Wilton Park when she saw the man committing an act of public indecency in the trees behind her.

    The woman left the area after challenging the man about his behavior and the incident was reported to police.

    West Yorkshire Police are now looking for an Asian man, in his early 20s, described as slim and wearing jeans with a navy blue cotton jacket.

    Extra patrols have been put on in the area after the incident at about 16:00 on Tuesday 14 May with police appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

    Villagers fighting plans for a so-called " super prison" at Full Sutton in East Yorkshire have accused the government of breaking a promise made almost 40 years ago.

    Campaigners say they've obtained documents showing that in 1979 the government promised to hold a public inquiry should there ever be a scheme to build a new prison on the site.

    The government wants to build a Category C jail at Full Sutton, next to an existing maximum security prison, near Pocklington.

    The Ministry of Justice says the new prison will provide well-paid jobs and it will be happy to work will villagers concerned about traffic issues.

    The RSPB is asking visitors to its famous Bempton Cliffs nature reserve in East Yorkshire to take pictures of puffins with food in their bills.

    People who take photographs are then asked to email them to the RSPB's special Project Puffin website, designed to reveal information about puffins' feeding and breeding habits.

    The so-called "puffarazi" have already submitted hundreds of pictures from Bempton Cliffs but the RSPB is appealing for more photographs, particularly older snaps of the bird carrying fish.

    Dave Aitken, RSPB warden at Bempton Cliffs, said: "People care about puffins, they are an iconic species and this is a way they can make a meaningful contribution to their conservation."

    A woman has been injured in a crash with a car in Sheffield.

    The woman, who was cycling along Abbeydale Road near the junction with Chippinghouse Road, suffered head injuries.

    Police officers and an ambulance were at the scene, after being called at about 08:30 this morning, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.

    The driver of the car wasn't injured.

    The cyclist's condition is unknown.

    The bassist of The Vamps will miss the band's Hull show tonight after injuring his arm - although the gig is still set to go ahead.

    The fiancee of Hull lottery millionaire Melissa Ede has described the frantic attempts to save her life after she was found slumped in a car.

    Rachel Nason confirmed Miss Ede, 58, died from a heart attack on Saturday, and paid tribute to the transgender LGBT campaigner and ex-taxi driver, saying she was clever, funny and an inspiration to others.

    Miss Nason said Miss Ede had gone to hospital on Sunday 5 May before returning home where she continued to suffer minor symptoms, planning to get treatment after the weekend if she still felt bad.

    She said said Miss Ede went out to get cigarettes on Saturday night but she then noticed her car engine revving.

    In a Facebook post, Miss Nason said: "I looked from the front door to see what she was doing and could see her slumped in the car. I ran to it and started shouting 'Mel wake up', but she didn't even flinch."

    She thanked police and paramedics who attended the scene, said a post-mortem revealed Miss Ede had ischemic heart disease, which led to a sudden heart attack, with her funeral due to take place on May 30.

    Miss Ede was already known for her online videos and appearances on day-time TV shows when she scooped £4m on a scratchcard 18 months ago.

    Police officers are trying to find a missing 16-year-old girl who's been missing from Wakefield for five days.

    Nicole Harris was last seen in the Quebec Street area of the city, but a national search has now started for her.

    She is known to have links to various parts of the country including South Yorkshire, Shropshire, Humberside, Merseyside and North Wales, West Yorkshire Police said.

    Nicole who is described as a "vulnerable teenager", is 5ft 3ins tall and has long brown hair and a burn scar on the side of her nose.

  15. Vehicles seized in organised crime clampdownpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 15 May 2019

    Several vehicles have been clamped, seized and checked for illicit items in an attempt to disrupt organised crime in part of South Yorkshire, police say.

    Since last Thursday, five vehicles, including one suspected to have been stolen, have been seized in Mexborough and five clamped as part of an ongoing operation to eradicate crime in the area.

    Det Insp Steve Smith, said: “Vehicle seizures and checks are just one part of the activity we've been doing in the area.

    “Vehicles used by members of organised crime groups are often untaxed, uninsured and therefore being driven illegally. They're also often used to transport cash, drugs and sometimes even weapons."

    Over the coming weeks, activity in Mexborough will continue with a mix of enforcement work and neighbourhood engagement, police say.

    A lorry fire on the M1 south of Sheffield is affecting traffic entering and leaving South Yorkshire as the fire service close motorway lanes.

    It's happened on the M1 northbound between J28 and J29 near Chesterfield, but the knock-on affect means traffic is building because of the closed lanes.

    Smoke and reduced visibility is causing most of the issues at the moment as the fire is now under control.

    Fresh photos have been released by police as they search for a Doncaster mother and daughter who have been missing for more than six weeks.

    Sebjana Myzeqari, 24, and her two-year-old daughter Enissa were last seen on CCTV at the Frenchgate shopping centre in the town on 2 April.

    Yesterday, police said they were growing "increasingly concerned" for the pair.

    It's not thought they have returned to Sebjana's native Albania, but authorities there are helping with the search.

    It's hoped the photos will help police as they search for the family.

    Ms Myzeqari is described as 5ft 5ins (1.65m) tall with shoulder-length, mousy brown hair. Enissa is described as having distinctive large brown eyes and brown curly hair.
