    It says the covers "have absolutely no value" but will cost about £400 each to replace.

    The Get Smart Film Festival looks at short films created using mobile devices.

    There'll be screenings of 41 flicks from around the world, and many others made by local filmmakers, all of them shot using mobile phones and tablets only.

    Police are trying to find a missing 15-year-old girl who was last seen in Rotherham in July.

    Eva Adam was last seen in Eastwood on Friday 19 July, when the school term ended.

    She was reported missing yesterday.

    A 41-year-old woman from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect, police say.

    Anybody who may have seen or heard from Eva in the past few weeks is asked to get in touch with police.

    Police stopped a car travelling towards Hull and found 6kg of suspected Class A drugs in the boot.

    A 64-year-old Hull man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.

    The police were alerted to the car using Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras after the vehicle has previously been identified as acting suspiciously.

    The driver was stopped on the A64 yesterday near Welton.

    The suspected drugs, thought to have a street value of about £20,000, were seized by police.

    A mobile phone and £200 in cash were also found.

    New figures show Hull Trains had the worst record for punctuality during the 12 months to the end of June, with less than 40% of services arriving "on time".

    Nationally fewer than two-thirds of scheduled stops at stations were made on time with passenger watchdog Transport Focus describing the figure of 64.7% as "not acceptable".

    New standards mean trains are considered to be punctual if they are within a minute of the schedule, rather than the previous five or 10 minutes.

    Transport Secretary Grant Shapps claimed the new statistics will "stop masking whether trains are really on time".

    Hull Trains had the worst on-time figure at 36.8%, followed by TransPennine Express (38.7%) and London North Eastern Railway (41%), according to the data published by the Office of Rail and Road.

    A football club in Sheffield say they're "devastated" after vandals spent five hours damaging its clubhouse, bar and kitchen.

    Money and stock was also stolen, according to the club, with the cost of repairing the damage thought to run in to thousands of pounds.

    Councillors are set to discuss controversial proposals to cull squirrels in Goole cemetery after complaints the animals have eaten floral tributes.

    However, suggestions the animals should be culled have been met with wide spread opposition.

    A petition opposing the proposal has been signed by more than 1,100 people.

    Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash in involving a motorbike and a van in Doncaster.

    It happened at about 18:30 on Wednesday on North Common Road.

    It's reported that a motorbike overtook a white Transit tipper van, lost control and then left the road.

    The passenger, a 44-year-old woman, suffered life-changing injuries, police say.

    The 48-year-old male rider suffered serious injuries.

    Anybody who saw what happened is urged to contact police.

    Emergency services in Harrogate are gearing up for cycling's UCI Road World Championships after months of planning.

    More than one million people are due to watch 1,400 riders compete in the nine-day event across Yorkshire.

    All of the races, taking place between 22 and 29 September, finish in Harrogate, where there will be dozens of road closures, external.

    Police said an airspace restriction would be in place across the town and large gates will block some streets.

    Meanwhile, at Harrogate District Hospital, more staff will be working in acute departments and Ripon Minor Injury Unit has extended its opening times for the duration of the championships.

    More ambulances and cycle responders will be also available, while the fire service said retained staff would be based at stations to give better response times.

    A charity is to install bee hives at primary and secondary schools across South Yorkshire to teach young people about the importance of nature and ecology.

    Oughtibridge Primary School, Stannington Infant School, Stocksbridge Junior School, Chaucer School and Sheffield College are to get the hives.

    Samantha Gaymond, headteacher at Stocksbridge Junior School, said: “We hope the bees will become an integral part of our wider curriculum.

    "Happy bees will enrich the learning experience at our school and help strengthen relationships in our community."

    Grant Robert Faulkner, 54, of Ebberston, near Scarborough, was spotted using the device twice in November 2017 while driving his car near Pickering.

    Faulkner, who pleaded guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice, was sentenced at York Crown Court yesterday.

    A motorcyclist who crashed while riding in Sheffield was "on the wrong side of the road", police say.

    The crash happened at about 17:15 on Tuesday on Stopes Road, Stannington.

    The 35-year-old motorbike rider is in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

    A red Mini Cooper was involved in the crash, with the driver not being injured.

    Any witnesses are asked to get in touch with police.

    Urgent action is needed to tackle the reasons why more children are committing violent crimes, according to a West Yorkshire Young Offenders Institution.

    In its latest report the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) at HM YOI Wetherby made the call to the government, saying the number of violent crimes has risen among young people.

    The prison holds about 240 "extremely challenging young people" aged between 15 and 18, of those 52% are charged with violent offences.

    The report says: "Last year we asked what's being done to reduce levels of violence among young people, this year, we see no evidence of improvement and the number of violent crimes has increased, so ask the same question."

    The report also called for answers to what's being done to reduce the time taken to fill vacancies at the prison, saying delays "seriously compromise the establishment's effectiveness".

    The Government said a special unit will soon open at Wetherby for prisoners with mental health problems and more staff have been hired to run it.

    A spokesman added: "The Government is investing more than £220m into early intervention projects to stop young people from committing crime in the first place."

    Leeds United and Sheffield United were among the five worst clubs for football related arrests last season, according to a new report.

    Leeds United had 49 arrests last season, with the most common offence being pitch incursion. Only Stoke City had more arrests - 80 - in England and Wales, according to government figures, external.

    Sheffield United had 41 supporters arrested - the fourth highest - with public disorder the most common offence,

    The Blades also had the fourth highest number of banning orders in place, with 54.

    In total there were 1,381 football-related arrests In the 2018/19 season, a 10% decrease on the previous season.

    An angry business owner has threatened to chain himself to scaffolding he blames for a loss in trade and has called for a council cabinet member to resign over the issue.

    Shopkeepers along Chapel Walk, in Sheffield, say they have been blighted by scaffolding put up two years ago as part of a £4.6 apartment scheme.

    Carl Dunne, of Cards and Gifts, said the street had become a "vile" place since the works started while others have reported a 35% drop in trade.

    He said he was looking at chaining himself to the scaffolding in protest and has called for Sheffield City Councillor Mazher Iqbal to resign.

    The council had previously said it would remove the scaffolding but after a new developer took on the project last month said it was keen to see the work completed.

    Mr Iqbal, the cabinet member for business and development, said: "Rather than waste further time removing the scaffolding only to put it back up again, the reassurance we have from the developer means it will be best to leave it standing and complete the project."
