    A teenager has been taken to hospital after being seriously hurt in an attack in Sheffield city centre early this morning.

    The assault took place at about 03:20 outside the Walkabout bar on West Street.

    A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

    Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the assault, police say.

    An "extensive" amount of damage was caused at a Scarborough takeway when a man became aggressive towards the shop's owner, police say.

    The damage was caused at Deals takeaway on Castle Road on Sunday 20 October after a customer was told there would be a wait for food.

    After causing the damage, the man responsible left the shop and headed towards Aberdeen Walk.

    Officers have now issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to about the incident.

    A person has been arrested after a shot was fired at a taxi in Sheffield last night.

    The white taxi was on Margate Drive in Grimesthorpe at about 21:30 when it's reported the vehicle was shot at, police say.

    One of the taxi's windows was smashed in the attack, police say.

    The passengers who were in the car at the time of the incident are now being sought by police.

    One person has since been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences, the South Yorkshire force has confirmed.

    It's not yet known if anyone was injured.

    A Sheffield couple whose dream wedding in Cyprus was cancelled after holiday operator Thomas Cook collapsed will get married today after Yorkshire businesses came together to help.

    Kirsty Ward and Craig Williams are due to tie the knot at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate after local businesses stepped in to offer their help.

    The pair had saved up for three years for the ceremony abroad and had booked to fly out with 30 guests, including their three children.

    The couple now have a wedding package worth over £7,000, including catering, flowers and entertainment.

    Leeds-based supermarket chain Asda has announced it is to increase employees' basic hourly pay as it remains in dispute with unions over the conditions of a new contract for its workforce.

    The supermarket said it will increase its basic rate for its hourly-paid retail employees to £9.18 from 1 April, following an increase to £9 from 3 November as all workers move on to a "single, industry-standard contract".

    The basic hourly rate on the majority of contracts in April this year was £8.21, the retailer said.

    The announcement comes as Asda pushes ahead with new contract terms for shop-floor staff amid employee and union fears it will see them lose paid breaks and forced to work bank holidays, or be sacked next month.

    Asda has said the contract is about increasing the take-home pay of more than 100,000 employees through an investment of more than £80m and ensuring everyone doing the same job is on the same terms and conditions.

    A 3ft-high goat was found roaming the streets in Sheffield last night, with police drafted in to help catch the lost animal.

    Affectionately named "Billy" by traffic officers, the goat was found wandering around Greenland Road.

    It was "one of the strangest things" officers had ever put in the back of a police car, according to those involved.

    The goat is now being looked after at the RSPCA in Sheffield, with calls being made for its owners to come forward.

    The family has links to Scotland, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    A stolen dog has been reunited with its owner in South Yorkshire after being found 250 miles away in Scotland.

    West Highland Terrier Razzi was discovered by a member of the public in Irvine, North Ayrshire, earlier this month.

    North Ayrshire Council's dog warden service launched a social media appeal to find his owner - and the message was seen by Lavina Barclay in Doncaster

    She immediately knew it was Razzi, who had been taken from her garden three weeks earlier.

    Lavina said she did not know why Razzi had been stolen, or why he ended up in Ayrshire.

    "It's a long way to take him, whoever took him. There are 10 grandchildren in the family and they have missed him, so it will be great to take him home," she said.

    Scarborough's dog warden is investigating a vicious attack on a Lhasa Apso dog near a school in the town.

    The dog suffered severe injuries to its throat and died from its injuries.

    The attack happened outside Barrowcliff School in the town on Saturday afternoon.

    The offending dog is described as a large male Bull Mastiff type, white in colour with some black patches around its back and on its ear.

    It didn't appear to be with anyone at the time of the incident.

    Scarborough Council is appealing for anyone who witnessed the unprovoked attack to get in touch with them.

    A man who died in a fall while potholing in North Yorkshire was a "caver till the end", an inquest has heard.

    Harry Hesketh (pictured) was exploring Curtain Pot, on Fountains Fell, near Settle, on 1 June when he fell about 20ft.

    Cave rescuers spent 17 hours trying to rescue Mr Hesketh in what was described as the most "difficult extraction".

    North Yorkshire Coroner Rob Turnbull concluded 74-year-old Mr Hesketh's death was an accident.

    The inquest was told Mr Hesketh went potholing with two friends at about 11:00 and fell about an hour later.

    Mr Hesketh, from near Skipton, died of hypovolemic shock and hypothermia caused by the fracture during the attempt to get him out.

    The caver was eventually brought to the surface at about 05:00 on 2 June.

    Mr Hesketh's daughter, Wendy Uchimura, said: "Caving was a constant passion throughout his life and he was a caver till the end."
