  2. At the scene: Clean-up starts after Harehills disorderpublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2019

    Oly Woodcock
    Journalist, BBC Radio Leeds

I'm near Banstead Park on Harehills Road in Leeds this morning following a night which saw police in riot gear tackle youths throwing fireworks and setting fire to bins.

    Aftermath

The smell of smoke still lingers in the air as a consequence of last night's events but the clean-up has begun, with street cleaners out and about and the road is now open again.

As you can imagine, living in this area and witnessing last night's scenes was obviously very scary.

I've been speaking to one man, who didn't want to be named, who told me "it all just went off".

"They started throwing bricks at shop windows, then the next minute a police car turned up and they all started chucking bricks at the police car," he said.

"We don't want that. It's ridiculous, it's stupid. We just don't need it."

Several people have been arrested in connection with the disorder and no-one was reported to have been injured, according to West Yorkshire Police.
