    A six-year-old girl who needs a kidney transplant from a live donor is hoping for a total stranger to come forward, after neither parent proved a match.

    Sarah Emmott, from Leeds, has not been successful in kidney-sharing schemes with her parents, so now the family is hoping a stranger will come forward.

    Doctors have said Sarah would not live long enough to be matched to a donor from the Deceased list, so needs a live donor.

    A fire at a recycling plant in East Yorkshire is almost under control, according to Humberside Fire and Rescue.

    The blaze inside a dryer at Transwaste in Melton, near Brough, started at about 10:00 this morning and at its height was fought by up to 35 firefighters.

    Liam Plunkett, one of the firefighters still at the scene, says: "We've got a tactical waste fire adviser on scene at the moment.

    "We've just about brought it under control and we're starting to downsize now."

    Police are appealing for information after two masked men armed with hammers and a crowbar robbed a restaurant in Wakefield.

    The incident happened at the Toby Carvery on Calder Island Way, off Denby Dale Road, at about 21:00 on Sunday.

    Two masked men in dark clothing entered the restaurant and threatened staff, with one male member of staff suffering a minor injury.

    The suspects made off with a quantity of cash, fleeing the scene in a silver VW Passatt.

    Officers want to speak to anyone who saw the robbery or the suspects' car in the area at about the time of the incident.

    Police investigating a double shooting in West Yorkshire earlier this month are appealing for people's help to trace a car which is thought to have been used during the incident.

    The shooting, which took place in Liversedge at about 19:10 on Monday 4 November, left two men hurt, though neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

    Police are appealing for anyone who saw a VW Golf being driven at "considerable speed" leaving the Sainsbury’s car park in Robbertown just after 19:00.

    It was driven along the A62 towards Leeds before being driven on Westgate and into Heckmondwike town centre.

    Det Supt Mark Swift, leading the investigation, says: "I am appealing directly to anyone who remembers seeing this car being driven extremely quickly.

    “It was being driven at speeds that would have likely caused people to notice it and remember," he said.

    Anyone with dashcam footage from the area at about the time of the shooting is also being asked to contact police.

    Next season will see Scarborough host a County Championship Roses match between Yorkshire and Lancashire for the first time since 1991, it's been confirmed.

    The fixture at North Marine Road will start on 14 June.

    Yorkshire are also holding their four home One-Day Cup matches away from Headingley, with two at Scarborough and two at York.

    York Cricket Club has been rewarded for successfully hosting a first-class match this year - the first time a County Championship match had been played at Wigginton Road since 1890.

    The increased use of Scarborough and York has been brought about by an unprecedentedly busy domestic fixture list.

    Headingley is also home ground to the Northern Superchargers, a franchise in the inaugural 100-ball competition, The Hundred.

    The men's side, whose players include England star Ben Stokes, will start their campaign at Old Trafford against the Manchester Originals on 18 July.

    The women's team, led by former England all-rounder Danielle Hazel, head to Lord's on 23 July to play London Spirit.

    Humberside Fire and Rescue has told residents in the area to keep doors and windows shut while the fire is tackled.

    Police say the 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed drink-driving limit after the silver Ford Fusion car crashed into the house.

    About 25 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a recycling centre near Hull.

    Five crews are at the scene of the fire at the Transwaste site in Melton, near Brough.

    Transwaste's website says it's "currently the largest waste recycling company in East Yorkshire".

    Humberside Fire and Rescue Service says people should not be concerned about the amount of smoke currently seen coming from the site:

    Police are appealing for information after a woman was raped at a property in Harrogate last month.

    The attack took place in the Jennyfields area on 10 October and was reported some days later, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    Officers say they want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Jennyfields Drive or Grantley Drive at about 15:00 and who saw a man and woman walking along the roadside.

    The man is described as white, in his early 30s, of heavy build and with short black hair.

    The force says it's particularly interested to hear from drivers with dashcam footage of the man and woman.

    Little Mix and Snow Patrol have both announced they'll play at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre next summer.

    Since forming in 2011, Little Mix have had UK number one singles with Cannonball, Wings, Black Magic and Shout Out To My Ex, and sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

    They'll make their third visit to Scarborough Open Air Theatre, and first since 2017, on 21 July as part of their 21-date UK summer tour.

    Snow Patrol will also play at the venue on 4 July.

    The indie rock band, who have sold more than 17 million albums, are known for hit songs such as Chasing Cars, Run and You're All I Have.

    Scarborough Open Air Theatre director Peter Taylor said: "“They are behind some of the best-loved indie rock anthems and these special songs are going to sound amazing at this unique venue."

    The family of a man from South Yorkshire who died when he was hit by a car have said he was a "hard working and doting father".

    Jamie Cantrill died at the scene after he was found seriously injured on High Road in Warmsworth, Doncaster, on Friday night.

    Police believe the 29-year-old was hit by a car which did not stop.

    Three men, from Doncaster, and a woman, from Denaby Main, arrested in connection with his death have been released under investigation.

    Over the next few weeks, the firm's old fleet - which has been dogged by reliability problems - will be replaced with the new £60m models which run on diesel and electricity.

    After travelling from the Hitachi Rail factory in Italy, the five-strong fleet is expected to be rolled into passenger service within the next few months.

    Two people have been arrested in connection with a crash in Bingley which left a 20-year-old man seriously hurt.

    The man was a passenger in a black Vauxhall Corsa which was travelling along Cottingley Cliffe Road at about 03:20 on Sunday morning.

    It's believed the car left the road and struck a tree and a dry stone wall, police say.

    The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

    Two men, aged 22 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury and have since been bailed pending further inquiries.

    Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have dash cam footage, to get in touch.
