The 29-year-old was found injured in High Road, Warmsworth at about 23:50 on Friday evening.

He died at the scene after being hit by what's thought to be a car.

His family have paid tribute to the father, partner, son and brother.

“Words cannot express the pain and devastation we feel right now", a statement said. "Our hearts are broken.

"Jamie was a fun loving, confident, genuine and selfless young man who had so much to live for and touched so many lives."

Daniella Stoica, 21, of Fitzroyd Drive, Harehills, Leeds, and Monica Lilly, 20, of Brook Avenue, Manchester, claimed to be working for a charity for the deaf.

On some occasions, Stoica would also pretend to be deaf herself.

The pair carried fake charity documents to trick their way into their victims’ homes and then used distractions to steal objects of value.

When they were arrested in Tadcaster they were found to be in possession of jewellery, cash and a donation sheet listing details of those who had donated money to the bogus charity.

They both pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday to committing six burglaries and 10 counts of fraud between 20 August and 23 August this year in Tadcaster, Selby, Boston Spa, and Pontefract.

Det Con Paul Carey, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Stoica and Lilly preyed upon elderly victims, not only tricking their way into their homes to steal cash and sentimental items, but also ripping away their peace of mind of feeling safe in their own homes.

"It is no wonder that some of those that they targeted are now left with a future of worrying about who comes to their door."

Liberal Democrat candidate for Bassetlaw, Helen Tamblyn-Saville, said she is "strongly opposed to fracking" in Nottinghamshire and everywhere else.

She said: "It contributes to both water and air pollution and, instead, we should be focusing on building renewable energy solutions, such as increasing the construction of off-shore wind turbines and restore subsidies for solar power."

The Conservative Party office for Brendan Clarke-Smith said that he too is opposed to fracking.

    Fracking diagram

Keir Morrison, the Labour Party candidate, said he would like to "ban fracking entirely".

He said: "There are better ways and means of creating energy and prosperity than fossil fuel extraction.

"We don't need to be subjecting the public to earthquakes and pollution when there is a vast wealth of clean, green technology available."

And Brexit Party candidate, Debbie Soloman, makes it a full-house for opposition to fracking.

She said the disruption it causes to local people and their environment outweighs any economic benefits.

"If the UK is to have any hope of meeting carbon neutral commitments, we should be further developing our renewable energy resources and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels," she said.

The national average for tree cover is 13%, but in East Yorkshire it's 3.9%, according to statistics compiled by Friends of the Earth.

The environmental campaign group is calling on all political parties to commit to doubling tree cover in the country.

Stephen Robinson, from Hull and East Yorkshire Woods, an initiative aimed at increasing woodland cover, says: "We're a relatively flat area of the world, so we don't have a lot of wooded slopes.

"But this year across the whole of the Northern Forest, from Liverpool, through West Yorkshire and into East Yorkshire, one in six trees planted will be in Hull.

"That shows we can direct government charity funding to help deal with some of the deficiencies we have."

The 44-year-old former England fast bowler, who spent 13 years at Yorkshire as a player, succeeded Trevor Bayliss last month.

His first Test in charge saw New Zealand win by an innings and 65 runs at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

It means England cannot win the two-match series.

"Obviously I'm disappointed but there are still some good learnings in there," said Silverwood,.

"In the first innings we fell short on runs as anything north of 400 would've kept us in the game and things could've been different.

"What we have to learn is chances in this part of the world are hard to come by, so we've got to work hard not to miss them."
