    A 71-year-old woman has gone missing from her home in Sheffield, say police.

    Patricia Brookes was last seen at her home in the Bradway area at about 09:00 yesterday morning, according to South Yorkshire Police.

    Officers say they believe she's driving a grey Volkswagen Golf with a 2018 registration number.

    Anyone who sees her is being asked to contact police immediately.

    The bodies of two men in their 60s have been discovered on a boat in York, say police.

    Emergency services were called out to the River Ouse near Lendal at about 20:00 last night, where the bodies of the men were discovered.

    At the moment, the men's deaths do not appear to be suspicious, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    Investigations are continuing this morning.

    CCTV images of a man and woman police want to speak to in connection with the fraudulent use of a 95-year-old’s bank card in Scarborough last month have been released by police in the hope someone can identify them.

    The man lost his wallet in Scarborough town centre on Wednesday 20 November and later that day, a bank card from inside it was used in an attempt to pay for goods at a local supermarket.

    Police say only a small amount of money was lost, but the incident has had a "profound effect on the elderly victim".

    Anyone who recognises the man or woman in the images is being asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.

    He is wanted for breaching the licence conditions.

    Former England cricket captain Bob Willis, who took 325 wickets in 90 Test matches, has died at the age of 70.

    He is perhaps best known for claiming a career-best 8-43 to help secure a famous win over Australia at Headingley in the 1981 Ashes.

    The fast bowler played for England between 1971 and 1984, and is behind only James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ian Botham on the list of England's highest Test wicket-takers.

    Police are trying to find a missing 16-year-old boy who was last seen in Hull yesterday.

    Theo Murray hasn't been seen since saying he was going to Hull train station at about 19:00 last night.

    Officers don't know whether he caught a train or a bus, or if he’s still in Hull, but say it’s possible he could be in North Yorkshire.

    Theo is described as having olive skin, around 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build, with dark hair. He is thought to be wearing a grey jacket, black joggers and trainers, and carrying a bag.

    Anyone with information is being asked to get in touch with Humberside Police.

    The holiday company Tui has announced an extra 74,000 airline seats for winter 2020 out of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, including twice weekly flights to Sharm el-Sheikh.

    New routes from the airport for next winter are to Cape Verde, Fuerteventura, Hurghada and Cancun.

    There are also additional flight days for Lanzarote on a Monday, and Tenerife on a Thursday during winter 2020.

    Strictly Come Dancing Star Catherine Tydlesley has said she doesn't rule out the possibility of a second series of the North Yorkshire-based sitcom Scarborough.

    Catherine starred in the show about a group of people from the North Yorkshire seaside town alongside Jason Manford.

    The show, which was created by Hull writer Derren Litten and filmed in Scarborough, was cancelled by the BBC after six episodes.

    But Catherine has told the BBC: "The reviews and feedback were just wonderful and we're still all shocked.

    "But never say never, it could go somewhere else. I'm really hoping it does.

    "There's already been a lot of interest, so watch this space. The second series is just sat there, it's ready to go."

    A street in Yorkshire has the slowest broadband in the UK, according to price comparison site USwitch.

    Kingsclere in Huntington, York, has download speeds 800 times slower than the UK's fastest street, the firm says.

    This means it could take more than two days to download a two-hour film.

    By contrast, York Road in Elvington, which is only eight miles from York, has the second fastest broadband in the UK.

    The survey found the street with the fastest download speed is Darwin Street in Livingston, Scotland.

    A survey of farm buildings in an area of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is to begin next year.

    Farm buildings across the National Park were surveyed and recorded from 2011 - but the park boundary was extended in 2016 to include the Westmorland Dales.

    Officials want to know the quantity, type and condition of farm buildings across this area so that the information can be added to the Park Authority's Historic Environment Record.

    It's hoped robot technology could help people who're living with multiple sclerosis (MS) by giving them "exoskeletons".

    Scientists in Sheffield are getting £40,000 to investigate whether robotic suits, similar to the one pictured above, could help those with MS get more exercise.

    The MS Society is funding the research, which will be carried out at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

    Dr Siva Nair, who is running the research, said: “A lack of exercise can cause heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity and depression, so we need to find a way to make it easier for people with advanced MS to take part in physical activity.

    "Robotics is the natural step forward. By embracing this technology, we are giving people who can’t walk the chance to exercise like everyone else."

    CCTV images of a man police want to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery at a bank in Leeds last month have been released in the hope someone can identify him.

    The man passed a note to a member of staff making demands for money at the Yorkshire Bank branch in Austhorpe Road, Crossgates, at about 14:50 on 23 November.

    He fled the scene empty-handed after the panic alarm was activated and was then chased by a member of the public, who lost sight of him in Back Austhorpe Road.

    The suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s to early 30s, of stocky build and about 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a blue padded jacket, a black scarf and black gloves.

    Anyone who recognises the man in the image is being asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.

    The Leeds United football team of 1967-74 will receive the freedom of the city at an official ceremony this afternoon.

    The award was announced as part of the club's centenary celebrations earlier this year.

    Under legendary manager Don Revie, Leeds won two First Division titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup between 1967 and 1974.

    The team, including Jack Charlton, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer, are the first ever group to receive the honour from Leeds City Council.

    Council leader Judith Blake will be part of the awards ceremony at Leeds Civic Hall.

    "You go abroad now and people remember the club, they remember those successes - that's how they know Leeds right around the world," she said.

    "I think it's a real moment for us to be able to say thank you, to acknowledge their success, and to acknowledge the incredible highs and lows the club has given to so many people over the years".

    Trains between Sheffield and London are still being affected this afternoon because of overrunning engineering work.

    The work is happening between Sheffield and Chesterfield, affecting services using the Midland Mainline.

    Services are expected to continue being delayed and cancelled until about 15:00, National Rail Enquiries has said, external.

    Where possible, trains are being diverted, not calling at Dronfield.

    Services run by train operator Northern between Nottingham and Leeds and Sheffield and Gainsborough Central are also affected.

    The search has been launched for a new chief executive at Sheffield City Council following John Mothersole's announcement in October that he is retiring.

    An interim chief executive has been selected, with Charlie Adan recommended to take over the role temporarily while the search goes on, the council says.

    Mark Bennett, the authority's director of HR, said: "It is vital we appoint someone with the experience required for this role, providing a strong level of leadership and expertise in shaping and delivering member priorities within a large local authority organisation."
