    Armed robbers may have struck twice at the same Bradford shop in a week, police believe.

    At about 08:15 on Thursday 26 December three men demanded cash and cigarettes at McColl's in Allerton Road.

    One of them was carrying what was believed to be a machete.

    They escaped with around £150 and a large quantity of cigarettes before driving off in a car - believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa.

    Police believe this raid could be linked to one at the same store at 07:00 on Saturday 21 December, when two men, one with what was thought to be a machete, took a smaller amount of cash and cigarettes.

  6. Witness appeal after M1 Christmas crashpublished at 10:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2019

    Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the M1 at Wakefield on Christmas Day.

    At about 18:50.50pm on Christmas Day a blue Vauxhall Zafira people carrier travelling south between junctions 40 and 39 collided with the central reservation.

    A woman got out of the Zafira and was hit by a grey Vauxhall Astra travelling in the same direction.

    The woman, aged 50, from Wakefield, was seriously injured and is continuing to receive treatment in Leeds General Infirmary.

    A 48-year-old man from the Zafira was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving.

    He was later released under investigation.

    The driver of the Astra was interviewed by voluntary attendance.

    A man is due in court this morning following a police shooting in Hull earlier this month.

    Andrejs Saveljevs of Boulevard, Hull, has been charged with possession of a firearm or imitation with intent to cause fear of violence.

    The 35-year-old is due at Hull Magistrates' Court this morning (Friday).

    His appearance follows reports on Sunday, 15 December that a man was on Hessle Road in possession of a firearm.

    The road was closed for a number of hours

    Police attended and the man, aged 35, was shot and taken to hospital.

    The man has now been released from hospital.

    Police say there continues to be two investigations running parallel in connection to the incident.

    A criminal investigation carried out by Humberside Police and an independent investigation carried out by the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) that will look into officer’s actions as part of the incident.
