    A 21-year-old man suffered a serious head injury after he was attacked in Bradford last night.

    The incident happened about 21:00 outside MyLahore restaurant on Great Horton Road.

    West Yorkshire Police say the victim is currently in a stable condition.

    The force has asked for anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch.

    A farmer in North Yorkshire had to take "evasive action" after suspected poachers drove their vehicle straight at him, police say.

    It happened on Saturday afternoon at about 14:15 when it's alleged men in a 4x4 vehicle with dogs were seen driving over fields at a farm near Drax.

    At one point, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was driven at the farmer’s own vehicle, causing him to swerve to avoid being hit.

    The police helicopter was sent to the area and the 4×4 drove off, but was spotted near Barnsdale Bar in South Yorkshire and was pulled over.

    The North Yorkshire force says "considerable damage" was caused to fields and crops, including a newly planted rape field and about 15ft of hedge.

    Five men from the Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol areas arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage have been released under investigation.

    Police say the vehicle they were in was seized and four dogs inside were taken to a kennels to be looked after.

    Police officers have released images of two men they want to speak to after a camera van was targeted in Rotherham.

    Motorbike riders targeted the van, and the staff member inside, by driving aggressively at it whilst it was parked on Fenton Road, Rotherham, on 6 December.

    South Yorkshire Police say the two people pictured could help with their inquiry.

    Insp Jason Booth said: “These bikes are not safe to be ridden on our roads and the manner in which they’re ridden often intimidates members of the public and can put people in danger.

    “I would like to identify the two riders pictured, and appeal to the public to share with us any information they have around off-road bikes."

    Gangs of young people gathering in large groups in Goole will not be tolerated, according to Humberside Police.

    Gangs of up to 60 young people have been gathering in the town centre and there are increasing concerns from residents about recent behaviour, including shoplifting and physical assaults.

    The Humberside force says it's determined to crack down on criminal behaviour in the town.

    Insp Mark Lovell says while the police will continue to work with local voluntary organisations to reduce anti-social behaviour, officers will not hesitate to start issuing dispersal orders to individuals which could result in arrests and further legal action.

    He said: "It is starting to cross over into some crime so we're hearing about shoplifting and then when they're challenged with the shoplifting they're assaulting the security trying to get away.

    "That's intimidating the community and we don't want people to feel that way, so we've reached that point where we're stepping in and taking action."

    Four hours after the gridlock began, police said one vehicle did not have enough of a gap to stop in time, causing a crash near junction 23, external.

    It is not known yet if anyone was injured.

    Snow and ice between Huddersfield and Rishworth resulted in traffic "not moving at all" earlier, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    Traffic remains slow at Ainley Top and gritters are said to be in action.

    A clean-up operation is under way after a drink-driver knocked down a number of gravestones when they crashed through a churchyard wall in West Yorkshire.

    The stone wall at St Stephen's Parish Church in Lindley, Huddersfield, was badly damaged on Monday night.

    Reverend Canon Rachel Firth said the crash had caused "quite substantial damage" including the destruction of "a couple" of headstones.

    She said: "Fortunately the majority of damage is to the wall - there is some damage to the gravestones but the earth is not disturbed.

    "Stone from the wall is strewn across the churchyard."

    The damaged graves were not recent burials and the stones will be repaired, she added, saying "thankfully" there had been no loss of life.

    A medical trial is being held at the University of Leeds to see if a drug developed as an anti-depressant could become a common treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

    Amitriptyline has sometimes been prescribed to people with IBS when other treatments have been ineffective.

    But experts said they needed to know more about why the drug helps before it can become more widely used.

    A group of 500 volunteers is now being recruited from GP surgeries around Bristol, Leeds and Southampton.

    According to charity the IBS Network, external, the condition affects about 12 million people in the UK.

    There is no cure and patients can experience abdominal pain, bloating and constipation, among other symptoms.

    A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a non-league footballer from Bradford who was attacked during a night out.

    Jordan Sinnott (pictured), 25, who was on loan to Matlock Town from National League North side Alfreton Town, died in hospital after being found unconscious in Retford on Saturday morning.

    Police said two other men, also both 21, remain in custody on suspicion of murder. A 20-year-old man has been released without charge.

    A 27-year-old man appeared in court on Monday charged with grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm in connection with an assault thought to have taken place after Mr Sinnott was attacked.

    Mr Sinnott was found with a fractured skull at about 02:00 GMT on Saturday and died in hospital at about 18:00 on the same day.

    The NHS says it will look into claims made by a health watchdog that some refugees seeking medical attention in North Yorkshire are being denied access to interpreters.

    Healthwatch North Yorkshire says it used "mystery shoppers" to investigate how refugees were dealt with when they needed medical treatment and found some were denied access to interpreters or discouraged from using them.

    Volunteers for the charity carried out its investigation at 25 pharmacies across the county, with "shoppers" seeking support for a friend whose first language is Arabic.

    It found only four willing to provide interpreter services.

    A spokesperson for the NHS in Yorkshire said: “NHS services are expected to offer access to interpreting and translation services to people where needed.

    "No one should be disadvantaged in accessing primary care services and we welcome Healthwatch North Yorkshire’s report and will look into the findings.”

    A barber from Barnsley is helping to take weapons off the street by offering an amnesty bin at his shop.

    The Barbers Against Blades group looks to take blades away from criminals - and even a gun has been handed in.

    The gun, although decommissioned, could still be used in a robbery, shop owner Tony Batty said.

    "In total I've taken about 22 knives and one gun", he said. "It's not a live gun but it can be used in anything because nobody knows if it's live or not if they walk into a shop with it."

    He says by offering the amnesty at his shop, on Racecommon Road, people are more likely to leave their weapons than if they had a bin at a police station.

    Emergency services attended the fire, between junctions 44 and 45 northbound, near Bramham, at about 09:00.

    The road had to be closed due to a diesel leak and the amount of smoke billowing from the vehicle, but has now reopened.

    The driver escaped injury, said police.

    Rail passengers have scored train operator Northern as the worst provider in the country, according to a new report.

    Just 72% of passengers said they were satisfied with the service they received in autumn 2019, according to watchdog Transport Focus.

    Nationally, 82% of travellers were satisfied with their journeys - up three percentage points year-on-year.

    Poor punctuality, timetable chaos and industrial action saw the satisfaction score sink to 79% in autumn 2018, which was the lowest level since 2008.

    Northern was the worst performer at 72%, with TransPennine Express coming in at 79%.

    Meanwhile, Grand Central scored 94%, with Hull Trains coming third with 94%.

    Nearly 28,000 passengers were questioned for the latest National Rail Passenger Survey.

    The Grade II listed building was built in 1899 and is currently empty.
