Garry Bolton (pictured), 47, and his 10-year-old daughter, Paige, were killed after the blaze broke out at their home in Wensley Avenue, Cottingham, on Saturday morning.

The fire service said Mr Bolton, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and the girl, who died later in hospital, were the only people in the property at the time.

Ch Supt Darren Downs said: “Investigations into this kind of incident are very complex and take time to complete.

Healthwatch North Yorkshire says it used "mystery shoppers" to investigate how refugees were dealt with when they needed medical treatment.

The watchdog says it found some were denied access to interpreters or discouraged from using them and health professionals often relied on online translation services.

Volunteers for the charity carried out its investigation at 25 pharmacies across the county, with "shoppers" seeking support for a friend whose first language is Arabic.

Healthwatch says it found only four willing to provide interpreter services, with one of the 21 which didn't provide translation services, suggesting a shopper should call around until they got a “Muslim pharmacist”.

Nigel Ayre, Operations Manager for Healthwatch North Yorkshire, said: “Our findings show refugees in North Yorkshire face significant inequalities when it comes to accessing healthcare."

The BBC has contacted the NHS for a response.

BBC Radio 4's File on 4 has learned South Yorkshire Police shared three photos of serious offenders and one of a vulnerable missing person with Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre.

The Meadowhall live facial recognition trial ran for four weeks between January and March 2018.

British Land told File on 4 it did not put up signs warning visitors that facial recognition was in use.

It added that it had "no plans" to use facial recognition at its sites, and that all personal data gathered during the trial was "immediately deleted".

South Yorkshire Police disclosed last August that it had "supported" the scheme to understand "opportunities associated with this technology," but did not provide further detail at the time. It has declined to comment further.

Wakefield council is now urging residents to put items in the correct bins, after various objects were found to be contaminating the waste recycling process.

Lithium batteries caused a "number of fires" on the conveyor belt after being recycled incorrectly, the council said.

Soiled nappies, which are supposed to be placed in the rubbish, were also found by staff in green bins.

Wakefield Council's Julie Greenwood said the authority had tried to put out “positive” messages about recycling, but added: "Cutlery, hand tools, machetes, garden shears, hypodermics that have been used - unfortunately, these are the sort of items people are putting in and we can’t recycle them.

“It’s a challenge, but we’re trying to address that.”

A woman has described the moment a World War Two mortar was hauled from a canal while magnet fishing in West Yorkshire yesterday.

Kerry Horsley was fishing in the canal with a group of people on Lock Lane, Dewsbury, at about 15:00 on Sunday when a four-inch long mortar surfaced.

She said: "It was very surprising. The person who pulled it out, his passion is history, so he recognised it immediately.

"We screamed, 'mortar bomb' at the top of our voice, took pictures and backed away. We didn't know how long it had been there.

"We found out from the York bomb squad that it was live. We expected them to blow it up where we were, but they took it back with them."

It's not the first time the group has found weapons on the waterways, according to Ms Horsley.

"We've found a mortar in Leeds city centre before. That was last year. We've found machine guns before, too.

"There were no markings on it, but the bomb squad believed it's from World War Two and it was dropped from the sky."
