Turner livestreamed the performance from his home in aid of the Kirkgate venue after it said it feared going out of business having being forced to close during the coronavirus lockdown.

Aaron Snowdon, from The Parish, said donations on the day of the show saw a crowdfunding campaign for the venue go from about £31,000 to over £43,000.

"It's hard to express [how much this means]," he said.

"Everybody this morning, especially myself and the other management, feels pretty overwhelmed with the support we've had and what Frank has done for us. We've had people donating from all over the world because of what he did.

"I really hope this means we can still be there when all this is over. It's hard to predict what will happen, but the future is looking pretty bright for The Parish now, so a massive thank you to all who donated and especially to Frank for giving us his time."

Richard Price, Katherine Wilson and Leon Allcock were asked to stand down after failing to attend a formal committee meeting in six months.

Council leader Chris Read said: "They have not met the minimum legal requirement to remain a councillor and it is right that under those circumstances they are required to stand down."

Voters in Rotherham had been due to go to the ballot box next week to elect councillors across all 21 wards, but due to the coronavirus pandemic local elections have been postponed until 2021.

Mr Read said, as a result, the three positions would remain vacant until next year.

The proportion of collisions involving pedal cyclists in the county has risen from 20% to 27%, according to North Yorkshire Police.

"The rise coincides with quieter roads and an increase in excessive traffic speeds," the force says.

As a result officers are appealing for people to "stick to the rules of the road, including speed limits".

They're also urging cyclists to "plan routes accordingly, especially if cycling with children and consider using cycle paths".

Drivers should "give cyclists 1.5m when passing and only overtake when it’s safe to do so", they add.

Sgt Kirsten Aldridge said: “We’ve seen a lot more cyclists using our roads recently, from young families and novices to experienced riders - the number of collisions involving cyclists has also risen during this time."

The bridge, which was installed last year, will be named in honour of Dr Mary Murdoch.

Her name was chosen from a shortlist which included headscarf revolutionary’ Lillian Bilocca, philanthropist and abolitionist William Wilberforce, Julia Lee, the first woman to officiate men’s rugby league games in the United Kingdom, and World War Two veteran Thomas Ransom.

Dr Murdoch worked at the Victoria Hospital for Sick Children in Park Street and was the founder of the Hull Women’s Suffrage Society. She died in 1916.

About 55,000 public votes were cast for the naming rights for the bridge which will connect Hull city centre with the marina.

Highways England senior project manager James Leeming said: "She is an outstanding choice and, given the current climate, it is fitting that the bridge will be named after a pioneering doctor who did so much for Hull.

"We are going to work with the students who nominated Dr Murdoch so we can establish the final name of the bridge, and this will be announced when it is opened in the summer."
