She said she was looking forward to "catching-up on Emmerdale" and she said a "teary thank you" to staff who helped her on her recovery.

  3. Tour de Yorkshire: Organisers target 2021 for delayed racepublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 29 April 2020

Tour de Yorkshire organisers have said the "sensible thing" is to look at when they can fit the event in next year.

The sixth edition of the race was set to start on Thursday in Beverley but was postponed in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It had initially been hoped that it could be moved until later in the year.

"The longer this goes on the more likely it is that it will be next year," Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive James Mason said.

"We don't want to put it on just to sneak it in this year when we may face inclement weather or we risk putting the race on and undoing the spectacle it could be, when if we can do it at a more appropriate time we can really use it to celebrate a rebirth and recovery of tourism in Yorkshire."

The Tour de Yorkshire has been staged as a legacy event after the county hosted the Grand Depart for the Tour de France in 2014 and features a four-day men's race and two-day women's race.

  4. Identity of 'Lynne from Skipton' shrouded in mysterypublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 29 April 2020

A woman who asked the UK public's first question at a government coronavirus briefing has become something of a modern Spartacus with dozens of people claiming: "I am Lynne from Skipton".

On Monday, the woman, whose full name was not given, asked when she might be able to hug her grandchildren again.

Her identity has become the source of much debate in Skipton, with some local Lynnes being messaged by the media.

Residents have since adapted the famous quote from the Kirk Douglas movie.

During the briefing, Lynne's question was read out by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

She asked: "I'm missing my grandchildren so much. Please can you let me know if, after the five criteria are met, is being able to hug our closest family one of the first steps out of lockdown?"

Mr Hancock said the question "brought home the emotional impact of lockdown" and he hoped it would be allowed "as soon as possible".

Little has been released about Lynne's identity and it is even unclear whether she spells her name Lynne, Lynn or Lyn.

The Skipton Community Noticeboard Facebook group has seen discussions about the mystery grandmother - with some people tagging friends and family called Lynne and asking if they were responsible for the question.

A number of people in the group posted the slogan - "I am Lynne from Skipton".

    Officers at a flat

Emergency services were called at about 14:20 yesterday to a parade of shops in Wellington Hill, at the junction of Wetherby Road and Kingsmead Drive.

Subsequently, a cannabis farm containing over 200 plants was found in a flat within the building and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis production.

Police are appealing for anybody with information to contact them as part of their investigation.

Just 10% of beds at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital are being used for Covid-19 patients, despite planning for a 50% capacity.

Now, staff are looking at what services can immediately resume if the government gives the go-ahead.

Teresa Cope, chief operating officer at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "We are planning this week quite intensively around what services we can resume in the hospital.

"Obviously we are still waiting for some national guidance on this and, with the lockdown measures still in place, there are all the limitations around that.

"But we are really keen to start looking at how we can restore some of those services that had to be stopped because of Covid-19."

  9. 'Do not have garden fires' - Fire service pleapublished at 09:55 British Summer Time 29 April 2020

People are being asked to not have garden fires after South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews spent a night earlier this week tackling "endless" blazes across the county.

The fire service said just one needless blaze can waste the time of five firefighters, with the knock-on affect meaning more people are forced to stay inside, bringing with it poorer air quality and hospital admissions.

At a time when hospitals are busy dealing with coronavirus admissions, the NHS needs protecting and to avoid unnecessary patients, it said.

It added that "nobody, absolutely nobody, needs this":

The remains were excavated near Chop Gate, south of Stokesley, on 31 March.

In a statement, the force said: "Officers are keeping an open mind until more information is known, but this is not a homicide investigation."

The discovery of historic remains and burial sites is "relatively common on North Yorkshire farmland", the statement added.

Ministry of Defence, RAF Police Forensic Team workers and RAF and Army experts are continuing to remove "military memorabilia" found in outbuildings at the site, police say.

It means anyone over 65, or anyone in their household, who currently has symptoms can be tested.

The same will apply to anyone who has to leave home to go to work, and the people they live with.

Pictures of Kevin and Catherine Lorryman's bungalow in Snaith were seen around the world, with drone footage showing just the roof poking out of the water after the River Aire burst its banks in February.

Two months on, the couple are living in rented accommodation nearby waiting for their home to be demolished and rebuilt.

Mr Lorryman said: "I think we're stoic about it, we're just getting on, that's all you can do, that is my number one concern at the moment.

"The house, the flooding, doesn't bother me and I'm sure everybody else is the same. We've got to get through this, this is major now.

The 56-year-old said a number of building companies due to work on houses on the street had furloughed their staff and were now unable to complete the jobs.

He said: "It's got to delay it, basically, but everybody, including the guys who work on stuff like this, we have to think of them as well, they've got to keep safe, they have families to look after and, if it were a case of my house standing, nobody doing anything for three months, I'd be happy with that."
