Read MoreLeeds-based airline Jet2 is proposing to cut more than 100 pilot jobs because of impact of the coronavirus pandemic, a union has said.
The carrier is not due to restart flying until 15 July, with its entire fleet being grounded for three months.
It comes as the coronavirus pandemic has hit the aviation industry with airlines not being allowed to fly passengers due to lockdown restrictions.
Other carriers that have announced job cuts include British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair.
Balpa general secretary Brian Strutton said: "Many of the pilots whose jobs are on the line in Jet2 have just recently moved there after having lost their jobs at Thomas Cook.
"These pilots have been through the mill already."
Mr Strutton added that he hoped Jet2 would work with them to negotiate the 102 job losses.
A Jet2 spokesperson said the implications of the coronavirs crisis and uncertainty around lockdown had impacted the business.
They added: "As a result, we have had to reassess and reduce our flying programme for the remainder of 2020 and for 2021. Sadly, the overall effect of these reductions has been the need to propose a number of colleague redundancies across our business.
"We cannot say how much we regret these proposed redundancies and we will be consulting with appropriate representatives of the affected colleagues in order to ensure that all options and issues are fully considered."
It added that it was confident Jet2 would "bounce back" but had to make redundancies now.
A photographer has described the moments after a plane crash landed at an airfield in Lincolnshire.
Nick Barwis, who was walking near North Coates Flying Club yesterday evening when the crash happened, said he heard the aircraft circling overhead before it attempted to land in a strong crosswind.
When it touched down, the plane "bounced to the right and into a ditch" which runs parallel to the landing strip, Mr Barwis said.
The "wing scraped along a footpath" near the ditch, he said.
"Luckily no-one was walking on it. They'd have had a shock if they had been," he added.
