A crumbling secondary school under threat of closure due to its state of disrepair is set for a £25m rebuild.
Millions of pounds have already been spent on maintenance and asbestos work at Wetherby High School, but further investment is needed to prevent closure, a report said.
According to the latest Ofsted report the school has 598 pupils aged between 11 and 18.
Leeds City Council says it's looking at selling off school land for housing to help to fund the project.
Council leader James Lewis said the decision was a "culmination of years of work" trying to rebuild the school, which dates back to World War Two.
The school's condition is described as "extremely poor" with a report adding: "Just addressing the urgent issues on a reactive basis is not considered to be sustainable or value for money."
Mr Lewis said the plan was to rebuild the school, on a smaller site.
Proposals also include reducing the school land area from 18.3 acres to 10.5 acres with the remaining land being sold for housing to raise between £9m and £12m towards the rebuild.
The new school is expected to be completed by September 2024.
An urgent appeal has been launched to raise £10,000 to repair the tallest church spire in Yorkshire.
The 247ft (83m) tall Wakefield cathedral spire underwent emergency works in 2018 and 2019, but staff say more needs to be done to ensure the 15th Century tower remains stable.
A recent report showed "significant open joints in the upper sections of the spire" and the interior was showing some "water penetration and seepage".
The cost of work to the the Grade I-listed building is expected to be about £45,000 with a grant from Historic England covering just over £35,000.
The extra £10,000 towards the work is needed by mid-January, external. If not raised by then "all funding towards the project could be lost," staff said.
The Dean of Wakefield, The Very Revd Simon Cowling said: "The spire of Wakefield can be seen from miles around and is one of the very few remaining structures across the city which still holds its original purpose to this day.
"Not since 19th Century has the spire needed such repair work to be carried out in order to secure its future."

A new walk-in vaccination centre will open in Scunthorpe town centre on Tuesday to give more people access to Covid-19 booster jabs.
The clinic at The Foundry Shopping Centre, in Market Hill, will open between 09:00 and 17:00 from Tuesday to Saturday.
Lateral flow test kits will also be on offer at the centre.
Tessa Lindfield, North Lincolnshire’s director of public health, said: “The new vaccine centre will increase capacity, and, along with the Ironstone Centre for booked vaccinations, the hard work of local GPs and pharmacies will mean that every eligible person will be offered a booster by the end of the year.”
More than 130,000 people in North Lincolnshire, aged 12 or over, have had at least one vaccine. Of the 120,000 over 18s who have had a second dose, 56% have also received a booster.
Councillor Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "The rise in cases mean the chances of contracting are higher – we need to be very careful, and support neighbours, particularly vulnerable if isolating.
"There’s no excuse now not to get the jab."

A Yorkshire GP has called on the government to impose tighter restrictions to combat the surge of Covid cases in the UK.
Dr Brian McGregor is chair of the Yorkshire regional council of the British Medical Association and represents GPs in the region.
He told BBC Radio York: "We'd like to see them emphasising a lot more mask wearing, including in hospitality areas unless eating or drinking [and] we'd like to see them reintroduce 2m distancing.
"We'd also like to see a wider spread of the lateral flow tests, although there is a challenge with supply of those at the moment, and we do believe they should be limiting large indoor gatherings."
Yesterday the UK reported its highest number of daily infections since the pandemic began, and England's chief medical officer has warned that more Covid records will be broken.
Prime minister Boris Johnson has advised people to "think carefully" before going out to socialise, but, so far, the Government has not placed any additional restrictions on businesses, such as lockdowns or reduced group sizes for restaurants or bars.
