An additional 7,000 appointments this week have already been created at the mass Covid vaccination site in York.
Boris Johnson has announced every adult in England is going to be offered a Covid booster by the end of the year to help fight the Omicron variant.
The original deadline was the end of January, but the Prime Minister said the coming "tidal wave" of Omicron cases meant the health service would be overwhelmed unless the vaccination programme was massively ramped up.
NHS bodies have questioned how this can be done by staff who are "already beyond full stretch" and have warned of an impact on the care they can provide.
Dr Mike Holmes, from Nimbuscare, the organisation which runs the York vaccination site at Askham Bar, told BBC Radio York: "Don't contact your GP is the message, we will be putting additional availability for appointments through the national booking system over the next few days."
