    A man in his late 80s has been rescued from his flooded home in Lowdham, Nottinghamshire.

    One relative said he's being taken to hospital after the house was "ruined" by water.

    A hazardous area response team is at the scene on Merevale Close, along with the police, ambulance and fire service.

    Newark and Sherwood District Council said at least 50 properties in the village have been affected by flooding from Storm Dennis.

    Bingham Leisure Centre has been opened to help shelter anyone affected by localised flooding caused by Storm Dennis.

    Rushcliffe Council say their housing support team, social services and The Red Cross will be on hand to help.

    A "major incident" has been declared in Lowdham by Newark and Sherwood District Council.

    A number of properties in the Merevale Close area have flooded.

    A multi-agency response is being coordinated by the council, including the use of a mechanical road sweeper to assist with the clear-up.

    "We are further assessing what help and support we can give to the local community," the authority said on Twitter.

    Road closures in the town include the A6097, A6097 and A612.

    Leicestershire Police have reported a number of roads are flooded, external across the county:

    • Desford Road, Enderby (near to Next) is flooded both directions.
    • The B4114 between the 'Foxhunter' roundabout towards Leicester Lane (city bound) remains closed.
    • The exit slip of the roundabout from Junction 22/M1 onto the A50 (city bound) is flooded.
    • Lots of surface water being reported on the A46 /Six Hills.
    • Lots of water being reported on the A42 Breedon on the Hill.
    • A5 flooded at the single carriageway prior to the dual carriage way at Smokicngton Hollow.
