Work is due to start on a £2m route for pedestrians and cyclists in Leicester city centre.
The city council wants to make the area between Haymarket Bus Station and Leicester’s Golden Mile safer and more attractive as part of a further phase of the Connecting Leicester programme.
The first phase of work was completed last year with new cycle tracks and an improved route.
For the next phase, the road will be closed to inbound traffic between Belgrave Circle and Burleys roundabout on Saturday 18 July for seven days.
Lane restrictions will also be in place on the outbound carriageway between Burleys roundabout and Painter Street for two days.
On Saturday 25 July resurfacing work will start on the outbound carriageway. It will be closed for up to four days.
The council says the funding is coming from the government's Transforming Cities Fund.

They are not legally allowed on the site and concerns had been raised by walkers, residents and landowners.
On Sunday, officers issued the riders with Section 59 warning notices - giving police the power to seize the vehicles if they are seen being ridden in an antisocial manner again.
The government has approved the reopening of children's play areas but many in England remain shut.
