  13. Lincoln A&E 'struggling to provide full service'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Lincoln County Hospital declared an "internal critical incident" yesterday because of a severe shortage of A&E doctors, it's been revealed.

    Lincoln A&E

The hospital says it's struggling to fill rotas over the next few days and weeks and clinicians from other specialties have been drafted in to take up the slack.

The availability of agency staff - on which the hospital is "overly reliant" - has dropped "drastically", according to United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust, responsible for the hospital.

Boston A&E is affected as well but to a lesser extent, the trust adds.

    Quote Message

We are putting in steps to change our medical model. This means doctors from other specialities will be asked to support A&E senior decision makers to diagnose and treat medical and surgical patients who come through the doors. We need help from the public too and stay away unless they need emergency health treatment."

Dr Suneil Kapadia , Medical director, United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust

  14. Watch: Save A Life campaign launched in Lincolnshirepublished at 10:44 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Did you know that only one in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest outside of hospital?

Charlotte Wright, who's a newsreader at BBC Radio Lincolnshire, was one of them.

She collapsed while running, but defied the odds and survived when people stopped to give her Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR.

That inspired BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Save A Life campaign which is launched today and which is looking for 10,000 people in the county to learn CPR.

Doctor Simon Topham, from Lincolnshire lifesaving charity LIVES, explains how to do it:

  15. Let there be light: Campaigners want streetlights back onpublished at 10:23 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Campaigners are due to meet in Boston later to discuss their fears over streetlights being switched off in the town overnight.

    lights

The scheme has seen lights in some areas turned off at night to help save money.

Some local residents claim the crime rate is going up in those places, though Lincolnshire Police say there's no evidence to support this.

Clare Waterman, one of those leading the campaign, says the decision to turn off the streetlights must be reversed:

    Quote Message

We need to be consulted and it needs to go back to the council and be re-voted on to get them switched back on, but without the support of the Boston people it isn't going to happen."

    Clare Waterman

Lincolnshire County Council says it'll monitor any effects the changes to street lighting have, but it won't alter its policy at this time.

The health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has raised concerns over emergency, outpatient and maternity services.

An inspection, held between October and December last year, included Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.

Amanda Stanford, from the CQC, says the hospitals weren't up-to-scratch in some areas:

    Quote Message

The real concerns were around urgent and emergency care where we had seen very little improvement, and in some cases deterioration, in the quality of that care. In maternity services, which in 2015 we rated as good, we raised concerns this time."
