  1. Return to special measures for hospital trustpublished at 08:18 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    The trust which runs hospitals in Grimsby and Scunthorpe has been put back into special measures  following a recommendation by the health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

    Hospital

    The CQC highlighted significant concerns over urgent and emergency care, outpatients and maternity services saying there had been an overall deterioration in quality and patient safety.

    The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals Trust was previously placed in special measures in 2013 because of high mortality rates.

    Drivers stuck in traffic in the centre of Grantham are being urged to turn off their engines in a bid to cut air pollution.

    Leaflets are being handed out by South Kesteven District Council to raise awareness of the issue.

    It affects the Brook Street and Wharf Road areas.

    An appeal's being made for people to attend a Lincolnshire war veteran's funeral.

    Robert Neale, from Belchford, died at the age of 88 in Boston Pilgrim Hospital at the end of last month. 

    He was a widower with no children and so has no family to attend his funeral at Alford Crematorium at 10:00 on 20 April.

    Now his neighbour Samantha Curtis and the Chairman of Horncastle and District Royal British Legion, Julian Millington, are asking members of the public to come and pay their respects:

    Poland's ambassador to the UK says he hopes the future of EU migrants in Boston is settled within months not years.

    Arkady Rzegocki is visiting Boston today which has a large EU migrant community.

    He says the status of EU migrants should be a priority in the Brexit negotiations.

  11. Watch: Volkswagen Beetle funeral cortege for Lincoln teenager published at 15:46 British Summer Time 5 April 2017

    You may have spotted a convoy of Beetles, and other modified VWs, making their way through Lincoln city centre earlier this afternoon.

    It was in memory of 16-year-old Rhys Durham-Flynn who died a few weeks ago after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.   

    Rhys was a car fanatic and had restored his own Beetle. 

    An appeal went out through a Facebook page called One Last Meet With Rhys - where it says: "Let's show how the VW community can come together!"

    An update on the story we ran a little earlier about a man who'd gone missing from Holbeach .

    Harold Bailey, 79, has now been found "safe and well" in North Yorkshire, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    The force says it wants to thank everyone who helped with their appeal. 

  13. Farmers left to pick up bill after tarmac scampublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 5 April 2017

    Two farmers in Lincolnshire have been left with hefty bills following a scam involving the dumping of rubbish.

    The victims were asked if they wanted to buy tarmac road planings to make repairs on their land, but when it was delivered the bales were found to contain landfill waste, according to the Environment Agency.  

    In one case, 2,500 bales were delivered, which could cost £300,000 to dispose of. 

    The other farmer has 25 bales to get rid of, which could cost £3,000.

    The Environment Agency is investigating and is warning other landowners to be vigilant and not get caught by persuasive and convincing criminals.

    Police are appealing for help in finding a 79-year-old man who's been missing from Holbeach since Tuesday afternoon.

    Harold Bailey was last seen in The Hollies at about 15:30 yesterday and is believed to have left in a blue Nissan Note.

    He's described as 5ft 10ins tall, of heavy build, with white hair. He wears glasses and is clean shaven.

    He was wearing black trainers, navy trousers, a blue shirt, a blue jacket and he walks with sticks or a walker.

    A man in his 20s has been arrested after being rescued from the River Witham in Lincoln city centre.

    It happened yesterday at about 18:30 behind the city centre Primark store.

    Three fire crews attended the incident and sealed the area off while the man was rescued from the water. 

    He was then arrested for breaching bail conditions.

    Peter Bedford has announced he's stepping down as leader of Boston Borough Council.

    More now on the overturned vehicle that's closed the A17 in Fosdyke.

    The vehicle was a blue Isuzu Trooper towing a livestock trailer with five cows in it, however the police say the animals seem to be unhurt. 

    No drivers or passengers have been injured either.

    It's hoped the road will reopen in the next half hour.

    Arkady Rzegocki is visiting Boston today - he's been invited by the town's MP Matt Warman. 

    An estimated 15,000 EU migrants live there, many from Poland.
