    A man has been charged with causing the death of a 17-year-old scooter rider in a hit-and-run crash in Lincolnshire.

    Callum Warrilow, from Leicestershire, was travelling north at Barrowby on the A1 near Grantham when he was struck by a car on 13 September.

    Kenneth Wallace, 53, of Church Lane, Stibbington, Cambridgeshire, is charged with three offences including causing death by dangerous driving.

    He is due to appear at Lincoln District Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

    Easter may be just around the corner, but money's already being collected for Boston's Christmas lights.

    A new committee of volunteers has been set up with the aim of raising £10,000 following criticism over a  lack of festive lights last year .  

    The town's 2016 Christmas lights, criticised on social media as "dismal", prompted disgruntled residents to brand the local council Scrooges.  

    Dylan Taylor, chairman of the Christmas in Boston Group, says cash is already coming in to try and help make 2017's display one to remember:

  3. Wheelchair user injured in Grimsby taxi collisionpublished at 10:59

    A 53-year-old man in an electric wheelchair has suffered a fractured shin after being involved in a collision with a taxi in Grimsby.

    It happened on Station Approach between 11:00 and 12:00 on Friday 24 March.

    The man was crossing the road close to the Bank pub when the collision happened.

    The driver, believed to be a woman, stopped briefly but left the area without exchanging details.

    Anyone who saw the incident is being asked to contact police.

    Lincolnshire's roads seem to be behaving themselves for the time being, with just a couple of areas with slow traffic to let you know about. 

    Traffic's currently running slow on the A46 Northbound at the Carholme roundabout, and also on the B1174 North Parade in Grantham where it meets Broad Street.

  6. Bin charge rise earns hundreds of thousands of pounds for council published at 09:46 British Summer Time 5 April 2017

    Higher green bin charges have netted East Lindsey District Council an extra £300,000 despite a fall in the number of people using the garden waste disposal service, it's been revealed.

    Charges for the bins have risen to £40 a year from this week, and the number of subscribers to the scheme has dropped by 2,000 in comparison with last year.

    The authority says it can no longer afford to subsidise the service by £450,000 each year.

    James Gilbert, from the council, blames government funding cuts:

  8. The eyes have it?: Research into Parkinson's under way at Lincoln Uni published at 09:03 British Summer Time 5 April 2017

    It's hoped that research being pioneered at the University of Lincoln could improve our understanding of Parkinson's disease.

    Parkinson's affects the brain, which gets progressively damaged over time, and there's currently no cure.  

    But Professor Tim Hodgson, who's been studying eye movement in people with the condition, believes the research can help those suffering with the disease and in its early diagnosis.  

    Professor Hodgson says there's a noticeable difference between the eye movements of those with and without the condition:

    There are differences between the eye movements of people with Parkinson's and healthy people. Particularly there's a jerkiness that you can see when you zoom in on the precise characteristics of eye movements in Parkinson's."

    An extensive refurbishment programme has been revealed for a Lincoln leisure centre, but some local residents are unhappy about the plans saying their own facilities will be lost.

    The investment into the Birchwood Leisure Centre would include a larger gym, exercise studios, a new cafe and children's climbing and play areas.

    City of Lincoln Council will be asked to approve the proposals next week. 

    But some Birchwood users say social club facilities are used for fundraising events, social activities and presentation evenings.

    A man's been charged with three offences in connection with a fatal collision on the A1 in Lincolnshire. 

    The 53-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report an accident after the collision last September in Grantham.

    He's due to appear before Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

    The former Wales international (pictured right) was told in January that he was part of manager Marcus Bignot's future plans but has not heard anything since.

    "When I extended, the gaffer said he wanted me here next season as well," Collins, 36, told BBC Radio Humberside.

    "But I've not signed anything as such. There's one or two others in the same boat."

    It comes almost a year after UK-based investment firm Greybull Capital signed a deal  safeguarding more than 4,000 jobs at the site .

    The latest intake of recruits started this week as manufacturing trainees which are first-of-their-kind positions designed to develop the next generation of steelworkers.

    The chief executive of Grantham-based South Kesteven District Council, Beverly Agass, is leaving to take up a new role in Cambridgeshire, it's been announced.

    Mrs Agass has been appointed chief executive of South Cambridgeshire District Council and is expected to move in the summer.

    Lessons have been learned and social care is improving following the death of toddler Poppy Widdison, the leader of North East Lincolnshire Council says.

    Poppy, who was four years old, died in Grimsby in June 2013 after months of abuse which saw her fed drugs by her mum and ex-partner.

    They were jailed for 13 years earlier this year

    Council leader Ray Oxby has today told BBC Radio Humberside that 70% of the council's budget is spent on social care for adults and children.

    A former seaside public toilet block which has been transformed into an ultra-modern beach hut on the Lincolnshire coast is up for a major architectural award.
