    A vigil will take place, external outside Lincoln Cathedral this evening to mark last week's terror attack in Manchester.

    It starts at 19:00 BST and at 19:45 BST the names of the victims will be read out and prayers will be said for them and their families. A two-minute silence will also be observed.

    The launch of Lincoln's Battles and Dynasties, external exhibition this weekend has been hailed a success.

    There were also authentic re-enactments of the Battle of Lincoln in the castle grounds.

    Over at The Collection, all sorts of artefacts can be seen including a van Dyck portrait of Charles I hich belongs to the Queen and a prayer book that Richard III carried into the Battle of Bosworth.

    Dozens of officers from across the UK were drafted to the county when the terror threat level in the UK was raised to critical in the wake of the Manchester bombing.

    The officers were deployed in the county to support Lincolnshire Police's existing armed response units.

    It's the first time Lincolnshire Police have worked with the Ministry of Defence Police, whose prime role is to protect MoD bases

    More than 400 calls were made by Lincolnshire's prisons to the region's ambulance service in the last three years.

    Many inmates at our jails and Morton Hall Immigration Centre needed ambulances after being attacked or overdosing on drugs.

    The figures come from a Freedom of Information request to EMAS.

    British Airways is now operating a full service after an IT problem caused major disruption.

    Hundreds of flights had to be cancelled over the bank holiday weekend.

    BA's chief executive blamed a power surge for the failure which affected 75,000 people.

    A German bierkeller and restaurant , externalwill bring a slice of Munich culture to Lincoln next month.

    Following an investment of between £300,000 and £400,000, the Original Bierkeller will officially open on Silver Street in the former Forum Wetherspoons restaurant, bringing around 150 jobs to the city.

    This summer, the town's market place will once again be transformed into a seaside resort for a weekend.

    The 126 square metre beach will be in the town from Friday 7 July - Sunday 9 July and promises to bring all the fun, sounds and sights of the seaside.

  13. Heritage trail to be launched across the Humberpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    A new Humber trail is being launched that will take people on a scenic journey through the rich landscapes of the region.

    The Humber trail is a 250 mile route that spans from as far north as Flamborough lighthouse and Bempton cliffs to as far south as Gainsthorpe Medieval Village in Lincolnshire.

    It'll also link 70 fascinating sites of interest including museums and art galleries, historic houses and gardens, and archaeological areas.

    The Humber 250 Trail will be launched on 2 June at Normanby Hall, North Lincolnshire.

    Luke Holland from Grantham was a special guest at Caudwell Children's annual Butterfly Ball last Thursday.

    The 14-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, made his way up the red carpet with a host of celebrities and other young beneficiaries.

    The event raised over £1m for the charity, which provides practical and emotional support for disabled children and their families.

    Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter has announced Lee Freeman as the preferred candidate for Chief Constable of Humberside Police following the recent selection process.

    Grimsby-born Mr Freeman will now attend a confirmation hearing with the Humberside Police and Crime Panel in June.

    The Chief Constable position became available after Justine Curran stood down in February.

    A fundraising page, external has been started after a 10-year-old boy was injured when a tree came down in Lincolnshire at the weekend.

    Three other people, including a nine-year-old boy, were injured after the tree fell onto South Street in Alford on Saturday afternoon.

    The Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene and the 10-year-old was flown to Lincoln County Hospital, the others went to Pilgrim Hospital by land ambulance.

    The force faced criticism last year for restricting applications to people who lived or worked in Lincolnshire.

    However, Chief Constable Bill Skelly has dropped the policy and new recruits are now only required to have lived in the UK for the past three years.
