One or two folks who were smallish children during the war, they would be in their 80s or even 90s now. Or perhaps even sons, daughters, grandchildren who can recall those stories of the Avro Lancasters there were at East Kirkby actually taking off from the field

  20. Karl McCartney slams Lincoln paper for election disappointmentpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 14 June 2017

    William Wright
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The former Lincoln MP Karl McCartney spoke to BBC Radio Lincolnshire this afternoon, discussing his recent loss in the general election to Labour's Karen Lee.

He said he wasn't impressed with the Lincolnite, external during the campaign, who published his expenses:

    Quote Message

Any sane normal person would say they did a pretty good hachet job

Karl McCartney, Former Conservative MP for Lincoln

Well the Lincolnite's Managing Editor Daniel Ionescu has responded to this. He said the accusations Mr McCartney made were unfounded:

    Quote Message

We ran one single story which was a fact file on his voting record and his official expenses from the parliamentary website for expenses and that was the only story we were able to run about the MP in Lincoln who was in power for seven years...

Daniel Ionescu, Managing Editor of the Lincolnite

He added that article was a balancing act as Mr McCartney gave no interviews to any mainstream media, including the debate that was co-run with BBC Radio Lincolnshire and the Lincolnite.
