The only Lincolnshire MP to not get re-elected in this year's general election, Karl McCartney (Conservative) made a trip into the studio this afternoon.
The people of Lincoln voted in greater numbers for Karen Lee (Labour) who got 23,333 votes to Mr McCartney's 21,795 last Thursday.
He blamed a negative campaign by the Labour party in Lincoln, in part, for his downfall.
He said his party ran a positive campaign in the city - there were no Labour posters de-faced, but Conservative ones were.
Karen Lee has previously said this was was nothing to do with her campaign or the Labour party.
Mr McCartney said when he stood and became the MP for Lincoln he was proud that he never had to go "into the gutter" during campaigning:
Quote MessageI never mentioned MPs expenses or my predecessor and what she had or hadn't done because I didn't think I needed to. Didn't want to, I don't think it does politicians good at all actually to stoop to that level but unfortunately that's what some people in the Labour party here in Lincoln decided that they wanted to do. Well if you live by the sword you die by the sword.

Farming leaders attending the annual cereals event in Lincolnshire have welcomed the possibility of a softer Brexit following the general election.
The County Adviser for the NFU, Simon Fisher, says while the political uncertainty is unsettling, it could work to the industry's advantage...
Quote MessageIf we get a softer Brexit now, because the conservative party are going to have to in this arrangement they have with the DUP. They're going to have to ameliorate their hard lines to suit more of the MPs in the House of Commons, so more of the electorate. So that's probably good news we're going to get, maybe a soft landing on that.

ShortList magazine has named the Imps' home the 14th most beautiful stadium in the country. , external
Quote MessageCome for the cathedral: stay for the football. That should be Lincoln’s motto, with Sincil Bank a lovely old stadium which has been the home of Lincoln City since 1895. It’s one of those cracking grounds which you wouldn’t even know was there, tucked away behind rows of terraced housing before – whoomph – there it is, with a lovely rural vista in the background.

It's a chance to recognise some of the great work that full time, retained and support teams provide to the service.

Quote MessageThey give tremendous commitment to the communities of Lincolnshire and it's absolutely right that we take that opportunity to recognise that

In seven days 20 vehicles in Grantham have been targeted by thieves who have been able to steal items simply by opening a door.
From Tuesday 6 June to Tuesday 13 June an iPod, wallets, laptops, paperwork and even a can of Red Bull have been swiped from unlocked cars.
Quote MessageIf you leave your car or van unlocked your vehicle is a sitting-duck for thieves who will rummage around for literally anything of value and sometimes they will take trivial items too."
Gary Stewart, Inspector for Grantham
Lincolnshire Police are urging the public to always keep your vehicles locked and remove anything that could make you a target.

As our population gets older and older, adult social care becomes more of an important issue and is certainly something likely to affect all of us in some form or another.
I've been to a "moving and handling" training course with Walnut Care at Home, based near Boston, to get an insight into the care system.
Area manager Sara Meadows says getting carers to remain in the job is one of the major challenges facing the care sector in Lincolnshire.
Holding on to new recruits can prove difficult once they've started the job because the role doesn't match their expectations, she says:
Quote MessageIt's understanding what the job entails. When they come into care, a lot of people think a lot of different things - but they think it's going to be something completely different to what it actually is."

It's one of the biggest events in the farming calendar and it's being held right here in Lincolnshire over the next two days.
Cereals 2017, external offers the chance for arable farmers to get to grips with the latest technologies, as well as learn about products and services that would benefit their business.

It may be a Hollywood blockbuster, but behind the scenes of The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, there's a little bit of Lincolnshire in the mix.
Adrian Bell, from Skegness, had the very important job of being the movie's sound recordist - catching every scary sound on mic.
Adrian left school at 16 and did lighting and sound jobs in Skegness before training at the BBC and then going freelance.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, he says the last day of filming in France saw him trying to do his job in a plane while the aircraft was performing some very strange negative g-force manoeuvres:
Quote MessageThere was a small crew that went up and I was strapped in. I took my headphones off and they stayed in front of me! The first couple of times it was slightly concerning looking out of the window to the side and seeing the horizon almost vertical!"
Adrian Bell
And, it seems, even top sound recordists can forget things from time to time as he revealed to me: "I've forgotten to push record occasionally." Oops...

Karen Lee, Labour's new MP for Lincoln, is only in her first week in the job but is already seeking a meeting with health managers over the future of the city's NHS walk-in centre.
Ms Lee, who's also a nurse, says people are already struggling to get appointments and she'll fight to keep it open afte a consultation about its future, external was launched on Monday.
Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says the services it offers, including the walk-in centre, need to become more efficient and avoid duplication.
The CCG wants to close the walk-in centre and instead extend GP opening times and develop the NHS 111 telephone service.
A petition started in an effort to save the centre has so far gained about 3,100 signatories.

A "number of fatalities" have been confirmed by London Fire Brigage after a huge fire raged through the night at a west London tower block.
Firefighters are still tackling the blaze at Grenfell Tower in north Kensington, where eyewitnesses reported seeing people trapped inside.
Concerns have been raised about the fire safety of the 1970s tower which contains 120 flats.
Ben Selby, from the Fire Brigades Union in Lincolnshire, says building standards nowadays are very different from those some decades ago:
Quote MessageModern buildings now-a-days have fantastic fire separations, smoke protection, firefighter lifts and so on. But 40 to 50 years ago these buildings didn't have those measures in place, and unfortunately when a fire takes hold like it has done...sadly, these are the scenes we see."
