  4. Save a Life hits its targetpublished at 10:01 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Lucy Parry
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

After only three months BBC Radio Lincolnshire's campaign to get 10,000 people trained to perform CPR has reached its target!

In fact, we surpassed our target with 10,414 people trained.

    Save a life

The campaign was launched in April after Radio Lincolnshire newsreader Charlotte Wright's life was saved by a passer-by performing CPR.

Charlotte collapsed while out running in Lincoln in November 2016, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Seven weeks later, she was back at work reading the news.

    Quote Message

To have reached the 10,000 mark in such a short amount of time is amazing. I still can’t quite believe what happened to me but I’m so happy that my experience has inspired people in Lincolnshire to learn this life saving skill.

    Charlotte Wright

And it's not stopping there, the campaign will now continue to the end of the year to see just how many people in Lincolnshire can be trained.

Issues discussed will include food waste, whether food banks have a good supply of varied and fresh food and how to support and educate the people who receive the food know how best to prepare it.

    hospital

The Trust Board of Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust says it will look at options relating to the Urology and ENT departments next week.

Clinicians say urgent action is needed because both of these services are facing critical workforce challenges, which are set to worsen in the coming weeks.

Grimsby MP Melanie Onn says she's worried about the impact it will have on the local community:

    Quote Message

My main concern is not just that we don’t have enough people to do the jobs, but that it's impacting on patient safety and now it means that people in Great Grimsby are going to have to travel further for emergency treatment when it comes to Urology if this proposal is passed.
