The statistics analysed how many crimes were committed per 1,000 residents.

North Kesteven recorded 26.1 crimes per 1,000 people and it's the fourth year in a row it's recorded fewer crimes than other districts in the country.

But the numbers also show that both theft and violence against the person in the district rose since last year's results.

The new figures also show that Lincolnshire, with 50.3 crimes per 1,000, moved from fifth safest county to fourth.

It's pleasing to know that Lincolnshire remains one of the safest counties in England and Wales. It’s particularly admirable given the fact that we are one of the lowest-funded areas for policing in the UK.

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire will be better protected from flooding thanks to a new natural flood scheme announced by the Floods Minister Thérèse Coffey.

The Wild Trout Trust have been successful in obtaining £50,000 of funding to deliver a restoration scheme near the village of Dunston.

The project aims to slow the flow and increase the storage capacity for water on the flood plain to reduce the risk of flooding in the village.

It will also provide a habitat for wildlife and a place for people to enjoy.

    Quote Message

Flood defence technology and engineering is better than ever and by using a mix of natural and concrete defences, we can provide the best flood protection for individual areas.
