    Work on the International Bomber Command Centre near Lincoln remains on schedule for opening in January next year.

    Lincoln company Micrometric began laser cutting the remaining 29,000 names of bomber command aircrew lost in World War II onto steel plates yesterday.

    The mother of a Lincolnshire schoolgirl, who died from brain tumour, has paid tribute to her daughter saying she was like "sunshine in the rain" and she will never stop fighting for a cure.

    Keira Wrenn from Alford survived for three years after undergoing pioneering treatment for a rare form of brain cancer, but died recently at the age of eight.

    Her mother Emma says that, despite her daughter's death, she's committed to supporting experimental treatments which could help other children suffering from the same condition...

    A model on the books of a Gainsborough agency who was kidnapped in Italy says she now needs time to gather her thoughts after returning home.

    Chloe Ayling was at a photo shoot in Milan at the time of the incident.

    She says she was drugged, bundled into a car and told she'd be sold as a sex slave.

    The agency has defended Ms Ayling's account of her ordeal:

  10. Criticism of North East Lincolnshire Council over flooding responsepublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    North East Lincolnshire Council have released a statement saying that they've had all available resources out helping local residents after heavy rain hit the region overnight.

    But residents cleaning up today said they felt let down by the local council's response and "little or no help was offered overnight".

  11. Grantham woman ordered to pay back £15,000 stolen from workplacepublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    A sales assistant who defrauded her employers of £15,000 while working at the Carphone Warehouse has been ordered to pay the full amount back in compensation.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard today how Emma Beddow-McDowell ordered to have her assets of £14,368 confiscated and paid back to her old workplace.

    The 30-year-old, formerly of Manor Drive, Great Gonerby, Grantham, but now living in Cyprus, admitted theft.

    She also received a six month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months.

  12. Couple who fleeced wealthy neighbour have assets confiscatedpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    A Lincolnshire couple who defrauded a 96-year-old neighbour out of £400,000 have had their assets confiscated.

    Jason and Rebecca Bentley from Chapel St Leonards are already serving jail terms for the fraud for six and a half years and four and a half years respectively.

    Today at Lincoln Crown Court, the judge ordered that the Bentleys assets of £300,000 be confiscated to pay back their victim, Patricia Reilly.

    They switched tens of thousands of pounds at a time into their accounts after gaining control of her bank account and debit card.

    They used it to clear their mortgage, pay of credit cards, build an extension to their home and buy a BMW x5.

    The Bentleys - who are both 45 and from Elliott Way in Chapel St Leonards - were jailed last November after being convicted of fraud.

    Public drop in sessions are being held today on the future of Lincoln's Walk in Centre.

    Health bosses want to shut the facility - saying it duplicates existing services.

    However it's sparked outrage from some people in the city, external, who claim the service is essential.

    The consultation, external on the closure proposal has been extended until next Friday because of public reaction.

    You can attend the drop in sessions at the Abbey Access Centre on Monks Road from 16.00-17.00 today.

    Lincolnshire Police have appealed for a missing man to let them know he is safe.

    Darren Lock hasn't been seen since yesterday (Tuesday 8 August) at 16.40.

    The 40-year-old is thought to be in the Lincoln or Skegness area.

    Anyone with any information of his whereabouts is being asked to contact the police.

  15. County police set to use drones at crime scenespublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    Lincolnshire police officers have been learning how to pilot remote controlled drones.

    It's hoped that drones could be used to spot criminals, find missing people and help with crime scene investigation.

    The force is due to get authority to use the machines by the end of the month.

    Twenty officers will be trained as pilots.

    In future, the drones could be deployed anywhere in the county within 40 minutes.

    Inspector Ed Delderfield says it'll be a really useful tool for them:

  16. More names added to the Bomber Command memorial panelspublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 9 August 2017

    Thousands more names of the service men and women who lost their lives in World War Two will be added to the memorial panels of the International Bomber Command Centre today.

    Nearly 31,000 names will be engraved on to the panels in honour of those who never returned.

    The memorial already has over 26,000 names and will be complete when the remaining names are added.

    A specialist team that can carry out mud rescues in Cleethorpes is available to take its first call-out from today.

    In the past year and a half, the number of people and animals needing to be rescued from the mud in Cleethorpes has risen significantly.

    The coastguard has now trained a team of specialist officers and equipped them with more than £25,000 worth of kit.

    Police information about a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist in Lincolnshire.

    A 48-year-old man died following the collision on the A631 Gainsborough Road at Hemswell Cliff on Monday evening.

    Officers are appealing for a person on a motorbike who may have stopped at the scene at the time of the crash to come forward.
