The Howard league for Penal Reform, who published the numbers, say that child arrests have dropped by nearly a thousand since 2011.

Last year, 913 children were arrested by Lincolnshire Police, down from 1,117 the year before.

Figures from five years ago show that 1,911 children were arrested by the force.

The figures match the national trend, which show that a quarter of a million children were arrested in 2011 and 87,525 last year.

The Dutch company recovering the aircraft, Leemans Special Works, says the wreckage is largely complete.

The plan to recover it involves damming the lake before Dutch Royal Airforce, explosives experts and an aircraft recovery team from Leemans attempt to remove the aircraft.

The company says everything is being done to find the missing Canadian tail gunner F.J.Cooper who went down with the bomber decades ago.

  10. Drug-related deaths on the rise across regionpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Katy Austin
    BBC Look North

Former drug addicts have spoken out to warn users of class A substances that they're risking their lives.

Last year saw a large increase in drug-related deaths across Hull and northern Lincolnshire, partly due to an increase in synthetic drugs.

Authorities are using an antidote drug to try to stop addicts from dying, but there are warnings some new substances are getting stronger.

Last week, the National Crime Agency said that at least 60 people have died in the UK in the last eight months after taking the strong painkiller Fentanyl - with the majority of those in the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

  11. Overnight A&E closure to staypublished at 10:25 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The decision to close Grantham A&E at night won't be reviewed by the health secretary.

United Lincolnshire Hopsitals Trust, which runs the hospital, has closed the A&E nightly since August last year due to a lack of staff.

    Hospital sign

The changes were referred to the secretary of state in November 2016 and were then passed to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP), which scrutinises changes in the NHS.

The report from the IRP says the closure can now no longer be called "temporary" and it constitutes a "substantial variation in healthcare provision" for the area.

Lincolnshire County Council Leader Martin Hill says the result is disappointing.

    Quote Message

The fear that this 'temporary closure' would be anything but temporary, has proved to be entirely founded. It is unacceptable that Grantham district has had a substantial change to hospital services for over a year without proper consultation or planning. I would urge NHS partners to start that process urgently so that local people can have some certainty about the future.

Martin Hill, Lincolnshire County Council Leader

  14. Charity struggles to raise money for homeless shelterpublished at 09:11 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

A charity attempting to raise £1.2m for a homeless shelter in Lincoln says it may have to delay building because of a lack of funding.

    Rough sleeper

The Nomad Trust says there's been an increase in the number of rough sleepers and beggars in Lincoln city centre and the shelter would help alleviate the problem.

But the charity has only raised a third of the total it needs.

    Quote Message

We had hoped to be looking at laying the first brick in April 2018, but because of our fundraising we may have to review that.
