  5. Hopes may be dashed for Flying Scotsman fanspublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 24 August 2017

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

We still haven't had official confirmation - but Realtime Trains, external which tracks the movments of trains across the country - says the run may be cancelled.

Apparently it's because of a "problem with the traction equipment" - I'm guessing that means the locomotive but I'm not an expert.

If we get official word from the National Railway Museum, which runs Flying Scotsman - we'll let you know here.

  6. Crowds wait in hope for Flying Scotsmanpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 24 August 2017

It's still not clear if or when it will pass through though. The National Railway Museum, which runs the locomotive, isn't responding to requests for information.

  9. 'More training needed' to drive on rural roadspublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 24 August 2017

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

In Lincolnshire we're all too aware of the dangers of rural roads, but a road safety charity says not enough drivers have the skills to drive in the countryside.

Jason Wakeford, from the road safety charity Brake, has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire more needs to be done to train particularly young drivers on what they need to know.

The government says our roads are among the safest in the world and it's not practical to make everyone learn to drive on rural roads because of geographical restrictions.

    Quote Message

High speeds, sharp bends, narrow lanes, risky overtaking and the presence of vulnerable road users like cyclists, make rural roads the most dangerous by far."

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

You might expect plans to more than double the size of a solar park to go down badly with the neighbours.

But in one village near Lincoln, a scheme which would see around 20 acres of panels being set up around an existing solar farm is being welcomed.

People in Branston, south of Lincoln, say they don't mind the existing solar farm, and are happy to see the extension, which will increase the area covered by panels by two-and-a-half times.

  18. Ingoldmells lifeguard: 'Even strong swimmers can struggle out there'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 23 August 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC reporter, Lincolnshire

One of the lifeguards who helped saved them, Tom Harrop, says it can be a dangerous stretch of sea:

    Quote Message

They didn't have much technique and they were just sort of flapping around in the water, really struggling. Even strong swimmers can struggle out there when they get caught by currents like that.
