A review of how patient transport is run in North Lincolnshire is due to be held today.

    Thames Ambulance vehicle

The council's scrutiny panel will look at the service, which is run by the Thames Ambulance Service.

Recently there's been a dispute between the company and its volunteer drivers over how expenses are paid.

New rules mean drivers won't be paid for fuel on the way to their first job or returning from their last.

It has meant a number of volunteer drivers have stopped transporting patients to and from appointments.

Some patients using the service have told BBC Look North they've been left waiting hours for people to pick them up from appointments.

Thames Ambulance says the changes were needed in order to put the terms and conditions in line with other drivers at the company.

John Jackson, from Sutton Bridge, cycles to work in the dark every day, he says a change can't come soon enough:

    Quote Message

Generally in the winter time it is pitch black. It's generally unsafe. I never bike on the road, not anymore. They've clipped me with their mirrors twice so I stay on the pavement now. Someone will eventually get hurt down this road with these lights off.

    Quote Message

Adam has worked extremely hard during his time at Boston United, not only with his commitment to the first team, but also the club as a whole. It is very sad that his dedication has not resulted in the progression of the first team that we all hoped for and we reluctantly accepted his resignation.

Assistant boss and striker Karl Hawley will take temporary charge for the match against Salford City tomorrow night.

  8. Lincolnshire couples not receiving full course of IVF treatmentpublished at 08:30 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Now you may know that the government recommends three cycles of the fertility treatment IVF on the NHS. Well, here in Lincolnshire people are only being offered one.

    IVF

An investigation by the BBC has found the number of clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in England offering three IVF cycles to women under 40 has halved in the past five years.

Campaigners argue that infertility is a disease and everyone should have access to three cycles of IVF on the NHS, regardless of where they live.

The Lincolnshire West CCG which oversees NHS IVF funding for the county has responded:

    Quote Message

The decision was made in 2013 based on population full health needs assessments by the CCGs within the region. Clinical opinion agreed it was appropriate, given other NHS healthcare demands, that one cycle of IVF treatment was funded by the NHS.
