  1. Record month for LIVESpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017

    Lizzie Musham
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

A record number of people were helped by the Lincolnshire LIVES medical responders last month.

In November 1,972 people needed a volunteer responder to help them with 999 medical emergencies- ranging from falls to serious road traffic collisions.

That works out as nearly 66 people every day.

All LIVES responders are volunteers responding to medical emergencies in their own community.

This means they are able to get there fast to deliver immediate care before handing over to the ambulance service.

    Quote Message

We’re incredibly proud and grateful to our fantastic volunteers who give up so much time to be there for their neighbours in time of greatest need whatever time of day and the weather."

    Nikki Silver, CEO of LIVES

  2. Decision to be made on Grantham A&Epublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017

    Corazon Garcia
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A decision on whether Grantham A&E will permanently scrap its overnight service is likely to be made today.

    Grantham Hospital

In August last year health bosses closed overnight accident and emergency for safety reasons.

Despite a recruitment drive and plans to re-introduce the service - it has now been recommended that 24-hour treatment shouldn't go ahead and planned talks around downgrading the current service.

  3. Burst water pipe in Washingboroughpublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Fifty properties in Washingborough near Lincoln are experiencing low water pressure because of a burst pipe.

Anglian Water says it's working to repair the pipe at the corner of Julia Road and Eve Gardens.

A three-way traffic light system is in place.

It's hoped that repairs will be completed just after lunchtime.

  4. Man jailed for 16 years for child sexual offencespublished at 09:09 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017

A 54-year-old man has been given a 16-year prison sentence at Sheffield Crown Court after sexually abusing teenage girls across the country.

Craig LewisImage source, South Yorkshire Police

Craig Lewis, 54, from College Road, Cranwell, Lincolnshire, was found guilty of child grooming, sexual assault and causing a child to watch a sex act.

He abused three teenage girls aged between 13 and 14 from Rotherham, Grimsby and Oxford.

An investigation began a year ago after an anonymous referral made to the NSPCC was reported to police.

Officers then discovered Lewis had used online social media apps to meet one of the victims, encouraging her to share photos and videos of herself.

Searching his mobile phone activity, officers identified two more victims and, with assistance from both Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire Police, Lewis was charged with the remaining offences.

Det Con Elizabeth Portman, from South Yorkshire Police, said it took incredible courage for Lewis's victims to report the abuse:

    Quote Message

Lewis's actions were absolutely despicable as he knew the ages of his victims and continued to commit the sexual abuse. I'm glad he has now been punished and I hope the victims are able to take some assurance in knowing he has been brought to justice."

  5. Disappointment among aircraft enthusiasts over cancelled Scampton Airshowpublished at 08:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017

    Rod Whiting
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The Scampton Airshow will not return next year, it has been announced

About 50,000 people braved some distinctly autumnal weather to attend the two-day event in September.

But slow ticket sales and higher-than-expected costs meant the event made a loss.

The decision not to carry on with the event has disappointed aircraft enthusiasts.

    Quote Message

To leave it this late when all the other airshows are actually confirming aircraft and selling tickets now. In my eyes I had a bit of a suspicion that something like this was going to come up.

Lee Priestley, Let's Make Scampton Airshow a Success founder

He added that some people he knows had already planned their trips and booked accommodation.

It comes as seal numbers across the east coast continue to rise.

Latest statistics show 1,643 pups have been born on the three-mile stretch of beach and dunes at Horsey.

    Lara King
    North East Lincolnshire reporter

It's been revealed that North East Lincolnshire is set to receive £8.4m worth of investment.

Funding for the projects has come from a number of sources – the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership and the European Union's Regional Development Funds as well as North East Lincolnshire Council.

The money will be spent on a new business park, a new road to link the ports of Immingham and Grimsby and a nature reserve.

  18. RAF confirms airshow made a losspublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2017

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

It's now been confirmed that the reason the RAF Scampton airshow won't go ahead in the air force's centenary year because it didn't make money

RAF sources told BBC Radio Lincolnshire the RAF Charitable Trust made a loss on the event because of "higher than expected costs and depressed ticket sales".

    red arrows

The RAF says it understands it will be a disappointment to many - but the Trust wants to concentrate on the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford in Gloucestershire for the RAF 100 year.

  19. Scampton Airshow: More on decision to cancelpublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2017

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The news there won't be an airshow at RAF Scampton in 2018 will come as a disappointment - because it's the centenary year of the air force.

Last year was the first Scampton airshow and it was hoped it would take over from a long-running annual event at RAF Waddington and become a fixture in the airshow calendar.

Red Arrows over ScamptonImage source, MOD

The Waddington event was scrapped over security concerns because it is now a base for unmanned drones. RAF Scampton is the home of the Red Arrows display team.

Andy Armstrong the chief executive of the airshow said: "Post-event there remains a lot to reflect on and areas where we would like to improve.

"As the organiser, we have concluded that rather than stage an airshow in 2018, we will use next year to fully consider the many lessons learnt with the ambition of running an event in 2019.

    Quote Message

We are very grateful to the many volunteers, sponsors, participants and local agencies, as well as the many thousands of people who attended September’s airshow, for their support."

    Andy Armstrong, Chief Executive

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Serco - the private company in charge of some of Lincolnshire County Council's finances - has seen its performance improve.

The firm has a £70m contract for the council which includes school finances and payroll.

    serco

Serco's been heavily fined by the county council for failing to meet minimum performance targets since it took over the contract in 2015.

Next week councillors will be told that Serco is now meeting performance targets, but there are still a large number of payroll queries and calls to the firm's helplines
