A First World War hero from Lincolnshire will be honoured a century on from the date he was given the Victoria Cross for bravery.
Sgt Harold Jackson received his VC from King George V at Buckingham Palace after single-handed action in which he flushed out the enemy and took a machine gun out of action.
Sgt Jackson was killed in action on the Somme in August 1918, and was the only person in the Boston borough to be awarded the VC.
Jackson Drive in Kirton, near Boston, is named after him and the centenary memorial service will take place at Kirton War Memorial next March.
