A second man has been arrested and then released after an aggravated burglary in Wragby earlier this month.

Three men were reported to have broken into a house on Horncastle Road in the village and attacked the couple living there.

Several guns and some cash was stolen in the burglary.

Another man had previously been arrested and released under investigation.

A care home company was today fined £70,000 after allowing confused and elderly residents to leave the premises.

Apex Care Ltd , which runs a 28-room unit at The Bungalow on Park Road, Spalding, had admitted breaching health and safety regulations following an investigation into incidents at the home in 2012.

The court heard that Betty Williamson, 97, walked out of the home on a freezing cold day in February 2012.

She fell inside the grounds and was later found suffering from hypothermia.

Later that year, 84-year-old Allan Redshaw climbed out of a window just 18 hours after being admitted to the home for respite care.

He cut himself and then suffered a heart attack and was was later found unconscious.

Although both Betty and Allan later died, the judge ruled that the incidents were not a significant cause of their deaths.

There's been widespread disruption across the rail network after a fire at Nottingham Railway Station.

East Midlands Trains have admitted it's been an "amazingly disruptive day" for passengers after all routes in the region have been disrupted.

For James Wright, who was visiting Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire today, that's meant a confusing journey back to his city home city of Nottingham.

He says he was offered "no alternative and no help" after his journey was cancelled.

East Midlands Trains say they've offered bus replacement services between Newark and Lincoln and have had "good communication" with passengers.

A statue to honour one of Lincoln's most famous sons will be put up in the city by 2019.

Mathematician George Boole was born in 1815 but his work is still used in modern technology such as computers and mobile phones.

A bronze statue will be installed at the entrance to the city's railway station...and will depict Boole teaching two children.

The Heslam Trust, who are paying for the statue, says sculptor Andy Dufort who is making the statue is well regarded in art circles.

Over 90% of staff at one of Stamford's biggest employers have voted to go on strike.

Plans to scale back operations at Cummins Generator Technologies have been criticised by Unions.

They think the move puts 300 jobs at risk

The firm says it has no alternative but to downsize.

A shop in Grantham has had an alcohol license refused because it's previously been involved in illegally smuggling tobacco.

Police became concerned when the license was submitted that the applicant was concealing their link to criminal activity.

They say there had been a "deliberate attempt to mislead the police and council as to who was actually behind the new application".

Mario's Food Store, at 22 London Road, had its license refused by South Kesteven District Council on Thursday 10 December.

Lincoln sign Rochdale midfielder Jordan Williams on loan and Sheffield Utd defender James Wilson, who was on loan at Walsall.

A man has been arrested and released under investigation after a suspected arson in Cleethorpes.

The fire happened on Park Street at around 7.30 pm in the town.

A drainpipe on a building was set alight, the fire then spread to a lawnmower and garden furniture.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze and no-one was hurt.

A surgeon who burnt his initials onto the livers of patients, including a Grantham woman, has been fined £10,000 and given a 12 month community order.

Simon Bramhall, 53, used a medical instrument to "write" on the organs of Catherine Hodgson and another victim during operations in Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2013.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating in December.

Catherine Hodgson has, in the past, defended Bramhall for his actions.

She said "This man saved my life... To me [what he did], is exactly the same as an artist signing his work - he's not doing any damage."

A 13-year-old boy has admitted to taking an axe and an air rifle into a Lincolnshire school.

Police were called to the school in south Lincolnshire last November to deal with an incident involving the boy who can’t be named for legal reasons.

At a youth court hearing in Lincoln today the teenager pleaded guilty to possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence to another and possession of an axe on school premises.

The boy was remanded into youth custody and the case was adjourned until the 26th of January for sentencing.

Motorists in Lincoln are facing delays today as a major route is partially closed for water mains repairs.

One of the southbound lanes on Broadgate (pictured) is closed today.

Repairs were planned for the weekend but were moved to today to avoid traffic problems.

They will be finished before rush hour this evening and continue again next week.

The RNLI is advertising for lifeguards to spend the summer working on beaches , externalalong the Lincolnshire coast.

Lifeguards patrol more than 240 beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.

The charity is also recruiting fundraisers who will work alongside lifeguards to provide safety advice.

Applicants need to be 'dynamic' and act as a 'positive ambassador.'

A photo of a cow chewing rubbish in Lincolnshire has been described as "shocking" and "disgraceful" by a landowners' association.

The photo (above) was captured by farmer Stafford Proctor who says his cow could have been killed if it swallowed the beer can ring-pull.

He says that the photo is a clear example of some people's "complete disregard for the countryside".

He shared the image to demonstrate a clear example of how serious even "small scale" fly tipping or littering can be.

The CLA landowners' group says that fly tipping is a "disgraceful crime" which can out animals at risk.

Four people died at Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre last year.

Homes in part of Lincolnshire could soon get their food waste collected.

A trial is planned to start in South Kesteven in May - covering nearly 5,000 homes.

The £210,000 pilot scheme could see 320 tonnes of food waste being collected in one year.

It's all part of the Lincolnshire Waste Partnership's commitment to cutting down on waste. More and more recyclable materials are being rejected at plants because they are contaminated with food.

It's hoped this scheme could increase recycling levels whilst cutting down on food waste.

If the district councillors agree to the scheme today it will begin in May, and if successful, it'll be rolled out across the county.

A miniature railway based at Stickney, near Boston, has found a new home after its future was derailed because of a land sale.

The railway (pictured) had been based near Stickney for 15 years but new owners of the land didn't want the attraction there.

But after a BBC campaign drew attention to its plight, it's found a new home.

Planning permission has been granted for a site at Keal Cotes, just three miles up the road.

It just goes to show, where there's a will, there's a (rail)way.
