  1. Escaped prisoner hands himself inpublished at 09:57 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2018

    An inmate who jumped over a wall and ran away from North Sea Camp prison near Boston has handed himself in to the authorities.

    Police have just revealed that Peter McGlade, who disappeared from the jail on Sunday evening, made contact with them last night.

    He was arrested at nearby Bicker.

    McGlade, who is serving a sentence for burglary, sparked a major search including a helicopter and dogs, when he disappeared from the prison.

    This broken-down freight train has resulted in a series of delays and cancellations on the East Coast main line this morning.

  3. Broken-down train affecting services in Newarkpublished at 09:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2018

    Trouble on the trains this morning. Replacement bus services are operating between Newark and Nottingham and Newark and Lincoln this morning because of a broken-down freight train, external.

    East Midlands Trains said it hopes to get all its services up and running by 10:30.

  4. Search continues for missing skierpublished at 08:59 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2018

    French police are still searching for a Lincolnshire skier lost in the Alps.

    John Bromell, from Willingham by Stow near Gainsborough, has not been seen since Sunday afternoon in the resort of Tignes.

    One and a half metres of snow has fallen there in the past two days.

    You're being warmed that some trains in Lincolnshire may be affected by industrial action today and tomorrow.

    It's all part of a walk-out by members of the RMT over the introduction of driver-only trains.

    Northern, which run services between Lincoln, Saxilby, Gainsborough and destinations to Sheffield, is affected.

  7. Body found in search for missing womanpublished at 08:12 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2018

    A body has been found in Suffolk in the search for a missing woman from Lincolnshire.

    Police believe it's Carol Smalley from Spalding - who hasn't been seen since 3 January.

    A search was launched for Mrs Smalley after she went missing at Hopton on Sea, just up the coast in Norfolk.

    Police say the body was found at the RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere by a member of staff.

    Officers say her family have been informed and the death isn't being treated as suspicious.

  13. City centre water main repairs: Lane closures liftedpublished at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    Work on a burst water main on one of the busiest roads through Lincoln city centre has been temporarily suspended - after new complications were found with the repair.

    Anglian Water says it has discovered telecoms cabling in the hole dug by engineers yesterday on Broadgate to try and repair the burst.

    It means they will need a specialist piece of equipment called a vacuum excavator - which can't be brought to the site until Friday.

    A company spokesman said lane closures on Broadgate - which caused traffic problems yesterday - will be suspended until Friday when they will return.

    Engineers will be working the site over the weekend and hope the work will be done before Monday morning's rush hour.

    The prize money offered at Lincolnshire's only racecourse is to go up to nearly £1.5m this year.

    Managers at Market Rasen racecourse say it's a record amount for the racecourse - and means next week they'll be holding their most valuable winter fixture ever.

    The racecourse says it represents a rise of almost 11% in prize money.

    The cash comes mainly from the Jockey Club, which owns Market Rasen along with 14 other courses across the country.

  15. Modern day slavery arrest in Briggpublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    A man's been arrested on suspicion of modern day slavery offences in North Lincolnshire.

    It was part of four arrests which were made following the raid on a travellers' site in Brigg.

    Earlier today officers searched the River View site on Mill Lane following investigations into a number of people.

    A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of modern day slavery.

    Two men aged 42 and 21 have also been arrested on suspicion of growing and selling drugs and a 49-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

  17. House badly damaged by firepublished at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    We were telling you earlier about a house fire in Dickenson Terrace in Gainsborough.

    Four fire engines were called to the terraced property at breakfast time - including one from Retford in Nottinghamshire.

    All crews have now left the scene and nobody was injured, but fire chiefs say the house was badly damaged after the fire took hold in two upstairs bedrooms.

    Fire investigators will return to the property later, but it's thought the cause was an electrical fault.

  19. French local radio running appeals for missing skierpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    The search is continuing this afternoon for John Bromell, a skier from Gainsborough who's gone missing in heavy snow (pictured bottom) in the French Alps.

    Mr Bromell, pictured below in the hat and coat he was wearing when he went missing, is an experienced skier according to his friends.

    Mr Bromell, who's from Willingham by Stow near Gainsborough, hasn't been seen since Sunday afternoon in the resort of Tignes.

    Henry Schniewind, who's an expert on safety in the area, says the local radio station is running appeals for any sightings.

  20. New advice for motorists after ambulance crashespublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    The trust whicht runs ambulances in Lincolnshire says its vehicles are involved in crashes which are not the fault of its crews every couple of days.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) says there have been 90 collisions in the past eight months.

    Trust bosses say some accidents are inevitable because of the speed ambulances sometimes travel at but there's a few things motorists can do to stop them happening.

    They say you shouldn't brake suddenly, be aware that more than one emergency vehicle might be coming through and if there's nowhere safe to pull over then drive at normal speed and the ambulance driver will overtake when safe to do so.
