    Hydraulic cutting equipment has been used to cut a casualty from a vehicle in Lincolnshire.

    A van and car were involved in a collision near Rectory Lane in Barrowby.

  2. Major route closed for water repairspublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    A major road through Lincoln will be closed for the next two days for emergency repairs to water mains.

    One of the lanes on Broadgate in Lincoln city centre will be closed until Wednesday.

    Anglian Water say that part of St Marks Street will also be closed until tomorrow for similar repairs.

  3. Man jailed for string of burglariespublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    A burglar who raided three houses within 10 days in Lincolnshire has been jailed for four years.

    Scott Brett, from Beaufort Street in Gainsborough, admitted taking jewellery and cash from a property in the town last month.

    The 24-year-old asked for two further burglaries to be taken into consideration.

    His boss, Superintendent Phil Vickers, has defended PC Dan Healey by pointing out that officers are overstretched.

    He said they sometimes work up to 12 hours in a row without a break.

    He says it's "disappointing" that a police officer was abused for being "more accessible" to the public.

  5. Successful sepsis pilotpublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    Lincolnshire's paramedics will be specially trained with how to deal with a deadly infection after a successful pilot.

    A trial in Scunthorpe and Grimsby saw 20 paramedics trained to administer an antibiotic injection to their patients who were assessed as having possible sepsis.

    90 patients received the treatment at the scene of the emergency, saving an average of 70 minutes time.

    By training other paramedics with the same skill, it's hoped it will save time and lives.

    Major changes could be made to how children with special needs are educated in the county.

    The changes could cost up to £40m and include a new school.

    It's hoped that the plan will reduce pupils being transported across the county to specialist schools.

    Lincolnshire County Council currently spends £9m on getting pupils with special needs and disabilities to school.

    Lea Mason, who is the head teacher at a chain of schools which specialises in teaching youngsters with special needs, says too many are having to travel across the county for school.

    A PhD student says he felt 'constantly under threat' while being detained at an immigration centre in Lincolnshire.

    Ahmed Sedeeq, who is originally from Mosul in Iraq, had been studying in Sheffield, but when ISIS seized his home town he applied for asylum.

    But by doing that he nullified his student visa and was detained at Morton Hall Immigration Centre near Lincoln.

    He spent ten days, including Christmas Day, there.

    Ahmed says some of the other detainees had taken their own lives after being kept there.

    The Home Office said, "When someone has no leave to remain in the UK, we expect them to leave the country voluntarily. Where they do not, we will seek to enforce their departure.

    "Detention and removal are essential parts of effective immigration controls. It is vital that these are carried out with dignity and respect and we take the welfare of our detainees very seriously."

    There have been 13 applications for bilingual jobs in Lincolnshire Police since a recruitment drive began last year.

    The force wants to recruit more officers who can speak Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian to help improve services in the south of the county.

    It began recruiting two months ago and has received 301 requests for extra information about the role and 13 applications have been submitted.

    It may be only a week after people plumped for their resolutions, but it seems some people will do anything to get their sugar fix.

    Humberside Police say that among the items stolen from cars in the last couple of months were a bag of sweets.

    The force says opportunist criminals will break into your car for "a few pounds or even a bit of spare change".

    They're urging car owners in North Lincolnshire to be vigilant after a spike in thefts at the end of 2017.

    DI James Fairgrieve says he's seen everything from coats and cigarettes, to pyjamas and a bag of sweets stolen from cars.

  14. Investigations continue into gun theftpublished at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    An investigation is under way into an aggravated burglary in Wragby in which several firearms were stolen.

    A man in his 20s has been arrested and released under investigation.

    Three men broke into a house in the early hours of Friday 5 January. Armed police were dispatched to the area after the theft.

    A man and woman were treated for minor injuries.

  15. Sport: Grimsby Town team newspublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    Grimsby Town have completed the signing of Derby County striker Charles Vernam on loan until the end of the season.

    The 21- year-old is a former Scunthorpe United trainee and played under Mariners manager Russell Slade on loan at Coventry.

    Vernam is set to be available for this weekend's game against Newport County.

    Meanwhile one player who might not be returning to Grimsby Town is midfielder Jamey Osbourne.

    He's currently into a second month on loan at Solihull Moors, and Russell Slade admits the situation is currently unclear.

  16. Grandma to become 'oldest player' in World Darts Championshippublished at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    It's thought a grandma from Lincolnshire will become one of the oldest female darts players in the British Darts Organisation when she plays in an event this week.

    Paula Jacklin, 60, from Gainsborough, says she's one of the oldest women to make it to this stage of the "Lakeside World Professionals Ladies" event.

    She follows in the footsteps of George Harness, of Old Leake near Boston, who was given the Guinness World Record for being the oldest competitive darts player in the world.

    He was nearly 99-years-old when he was verified by officials in July 2016.

    Police are investigating after a man in his 40s was found injured on a street in Lincoln this morning.

    He was found on St Mary's Street in the city at 09:48.

    Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

  18. PC verbally abused in Skegness supermarket for 'buying dinner'published at 11:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    A police officer has spoken out after he was verbally abused in a supermarket by a member of the public for buying his dinner.

    PC Dan Healey, who is based in Skegness, took to Twitter to vent his frustration after the outburst on Friday.

    He wrote: "Just been verbally abused at a supermarket... for being in uniform and buying my dinner."

    Dozens of people responded with messages of support for the officer.
