  4. The cup overflows: How Imps benefit from trophy contestspublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

    Rob Makepeace
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

We've already mentioned that Lincoln City are now just one win away from a trip to Wembley after beating Peterborough 4-2 in the Checkatrade Trophy quarter final last night.

Here's an interesting graphic which demonstrates how much each cup competition has been worth to Lincoln City in the last couple of seasons:

    graphic

Their amazing run last year - which ended in a quarter final defeat to Arsenal last March - has dragged in the most cash.

But if they can keep the momentum going in the Checkatrade Trophy, they're due another major payday...

  7. Streetlight switch-off 'stops people going out'published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

Councillors reviewing the controversial decision to switch-off streetlights overnight in Lincolnshire are considering the impact it's had in other areas of the UK at a meeting today.

    Streetlight

A new report says the cost-cutting measure has increased the fear of crime and stopped some people going out at night.

    Quote Message

We are responsible as a county council for people's health and wellbeing, which does encompass their fear, and not feeling comfortable going out at night. We have got a duty to address that and I'm sure we will."

Angela Newton, Chairman of streetlight review, Lincolnshire County Council

  8. Lincoln's NHS walk-in centre to closepublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

Lincoln's only NHS walk-in centre will close at the end of February, it's been confirmed.

    Walk-in centre

At a meeting this afternoon, managers from the West Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group said they were confident alternative services were now in place

Fewer people are already using the centre, which is on Monks Road, they added.

The walk-in centre will open only at weekends during February, before it closes for good at the end of the month.

Thousands of people previously signed a petition to keep the centre open.

Campaigners have now criticised today's decision:

    Quote Message

I'm gobsmacked, I feel as though I'm Alice and I've just walked out of Wonderland at a Mad Hatter's tea party! The walk-in centre has been full to capacity every evening I've visited it."

Their comments come just a day before new figures are due to be released showing how many people are living rough across the UK.

It's believed there are about 40 rough sleepers in North East Lincolnshire.

Cadey Ryley, from Shoezone, on Peters Avenue in Cleethorpes, says the number of rough sleepers has certainly grown - so much so that it's affecting business in the town:

    Quote Message

I know it's not all about money, but if we don't take the money, shop closures happen and that makes people redundant. It's not doing the area any favours at all."
