    Engineering giant Siemens says it's investing £8m in a new rail service centre in Lincoln.

    The centre will service the latest Siemens trains operating in the UK, the company says.

    Construction has already started on one of the firm's existing sites in Lincoln and should be up and running by this June.

    The first project the company will work on is an overhaul of Eurostar trains (pictured).

    Managers say 20 new staff will be taken on at the start, with that number rising to 40 by the end of 2019.

    Boston's mayor is facing calls to step down in a row about comments he made on social media.

    A special meeting has been called for next week where Brian Rush, an Independent, will face a motion asking for his resignation.

    The council agenda says it relates to what are believed to have been offensive comments made on his Facebook page.

    Lincolnshire police say the matter was referred to them but an investigation found "no hate crime or any other criminal offence" had been committed.

    Councillor Rush has so far not responded to requests for comment.

    Lincoln City fans are waking up this morning after a dream win last night which will see the club play at Wembley for the first time in its 133-year history.

    Nearly 10,000 fans packed into Sincil Bank last night for the EFL Trophy semi-final against Chelsea U21s, which ended 1-1 after extra time.

    The game then went to penalties and, with a controversial effort by Sam Habergham ruled out, Lincoln fans were on the edge of their seats.

    But they finally went through 4-2, leaving fans relishing their first ever Wembley final, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 8 April.

    A man who has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Boston at the weekend has been remanded in custody.

    Joshua King, 23, of Cleymond Chase, Kirton, was arrested on Sunday night in connection with a stabbing.

    A woman suffered stab wounds to her legs at a property on Cleymond Chase.

    Mr King will appear at Lincoln Crown Court next month.

    They were in charge for a 5-0 loss away at Bradford Park Avenue last night, but now the management team of Dave Frecklington and Terry Fleming have left the Northolme.

    The club's put out a statement saying they've been "relieved of their duties with immediate effect".

    Rail campaigners say changes to who operates the East Coast mainline won't affect plans for an hourly service from Lincoln to London.

    The government's contract with Stagecoach is ending early because of significant losses.

    But according to Rail Future extra services to London which are planned to start next year won't be affected.

    Virgin Trains East Coast has already commissioned 65 new trains for the route, which the company says will allow for new direct services to London.

    The former boss of the firm which was building Lincoln's Eastern Bypass has apologised for the collapse of the company.

    The collapse of Carillion has put thousands of jobs at risk and the city's £100m bypass project on uncertain ground.

    Appearing before MPs today, the company's former Chief Executive, Keith Cochrane, expressed regret at the outcome.

    Hull Trains has had an electrical fault on one of its trains this morning which caused smoke to be seen from one of the carriages.

    The train, travelling from Hull to London, had to stop on the main line between Grantham and Peterborough.

    Passengers will face disruption today but the company says it hopes to have the train fixed by tomorrow.

    Travellers spent five hours stuck on a train in December last year after what was described as a catastrophic failure of an engine.

    A fire station is being demolished, along with the nearby ambulance station to make way for Lincoln's new 'blue light campus'.

    Dave's been up on an aerial platform today as the city says goodbye to South Park fire station, which has been a fixture for decades.

    When it's complete in December this year, the new £15m complex will be home to fire, police and paramedic crews.

    A 'Good Samaritan' has had his wallet stolen after he let a man into his home, who claimed to be cold and homeless.

    The incident happened at a house in Finkle Lane in Barton Upon Humber on Monday morning.

    When the occupant of the house returned from putting the kettle on, he realised his wallet was missing and challenged the visitor, who then ran from the house.

    The suspect is described as being in his 30s, slim build, with a shaved head and unshaven face. He wore green combat trousers.

    New figures which put Lincoln third in the worst congested cities in the UK are no surprise say transport bosses at Lincolnshire County Council.

    Travel analysts Inrix say Lincoln is worse than Birmingham for traffic jams - with only Manchester and London suffering more delays.

    Motorists in Lincoln lose 36 hours in congestion every year and it costs the economy £127m.
