    Although for many people snow means cold, commuting chaos and slippery streets, for some it's the best moment of the year.

    Hattie, aged two, from Woad Farm in Boston, got a chance to build her first ever snowman today:

    Mum Melanie sent us this photo saying the last time they saw enough snow to make a snowman in Boston was before Hattie was born.

    She said that even though there wasn't much snow (so far), they "had to make the most of it".

    Prince William is to visit Lincolnshire next week, it's been revealed.

    The Duke of Cambridge, who was a pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance until last year, will visit RAF Coningsby to speak to crew who operate Typhoon jets.

    He'll be finding out how the station inspires youngsters to engage with the physics behind flying planes, according to Kensington Palace.

    A man from Grimsby who sparked a police drone search after a crash in Lincolnshire will appear in court charged with with drink-driving and not having insurance.

    The 28-year-old was discovered in a deep ditch off the A16 near Ludborough, Lincolnshire, suffering from hypothermia.

    Police used a thermal-imaging drone to find him after a member of the public found his overturned car.

    The accident involved an oil engine used to power a set of grinding stones.

    Additional teams are out fixing Lincolnshire's potholes from today.

    Last week, Lincolnshire County Council confirmed an extra £3m for road repairs.

    Money from the government was given to the authority to maintain highways.

    The council has commissioned local company Minster Surfacing to do the work.

    The number of hare coursing incidents in Lincolnshire nearly halved in January compared to the same month last year, according to police.

    Officers dealt with 193 cases last month, including one in which they saved and rehomed Spencer the dog (pictured).

    But despite the reduction in incidences, the force says it's still happening too often.

    Inside Out on BBC One tonight features Lincolnshire farmers who are calling for tougher sentences for the crime, with some saying they've been intimidated by hare coursers.

    A volunteer who died after his clothing got caught in machinery at Heckington Windmill, died while working on a "labour of love".

    Pete Lett had been working for three years to restore an engine at the windmill.

    He and other volunteer engineers at the building had almost got the engine in fully working condition when it was being tested yesterday lunchtime.

    Pupils have been sent home from a school in North Lincolnshire following a small fire.

    Melior Academy in Scunthorpe has confirmed that there was a small electrical fire in a cupboard which has now been dealt with.

    The school will be open as usual tomorrow.

    You're being urged to check on vulnerable neighbours who may struggle in snow predicted over the next few days.

    Lincolnshire County Council recommends keeping an eye on anyone you know who may struggle to keep warm or get supplies during the bad weather.

    Current forecasts predict snow showers and longer periods of snow from 04:00 GMT until 11:00 tomorrow.

    A new report suggests there is a "shortage of quality hotels" in Lincolnshire.

    A report to Lincolnshire County Council says the county only has three Four Star hotels (Belton Woods is one of them, pictured) and no Five Star hotels.

    It said it was particularly important to the Lincolnshire Wolds, the county's only Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

    The council says a five-star attraction could boost visitor numbers to the area.

    A Lincolnshire woman says she was disgusted to be asked to film someone urinating on a homeless man.

    Katy Hewitt says it happened near a pub in Lincoln on Friday night and involved a group of around seven people.

    She shouted at the group to stop the abuse.

    Ms Hewitt says she stepped in because "no human being deserves that and he couldn't defend himself".

  16. Lorry driver jailed for trying to smuggle 76,000 cigarettespublished at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2018

    A lorry driver has been jailed at Grimsby Crown Court for trying to smuggle 76,000 cigarettes into the UK.

    HM Revenue and Customs say the cigarettes were hidden behind the front seats and the sleeping area of the lorry and were worth more than £20,000 in unpaid taxes.

    Przemyslaw Andrzej Schlabs, aged 42, from Poland, has been sentenced to five months in prison after admitting excise fraud.

    Peterborough Hospital, which serves people in Spalding and the south of Lincolnshire, has been closed because of a "severe water supply issue".

    All outpatient clinics and surgeries have been cancelled for today, and visitors won't be allowed in.

    The trust which runs the hospital says only procedures "of a life, limb or sight-saving nature" will go ahead.

    The hospital trust says it's had to a declare a "critical internal incident to ensure the continued safe operation" of services.

    A woman has been indecently assaulted while helping a man who'd fallen over in the street, say police.

    Humberside Police say the incident was reported on Orwell Street on Saturday evening.

    They say the attack happened after the man chased the woman down the street after she'd stopped to help him.

    Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is being asked to contact police.

    The legend that is Sir Tom Jones has announced he's coming to Lincolnshire this summer.

    The Welsh singer, pictured in his 1970s prime, will perform at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham, on 22 July.

    Though, er, "It's Not Unusual" for the Welsh singer to appear in Lincolnshire - he performed in Market Rasen in 2015 - it's his first performance at Belvoir.

    His new tour will take him around various stately homes and historic locations in the UK.
