    The noisy road surface on the A180 in North East Lincolnshire has been a source of annoyance for drivers and people living nearby for many years.

    Now it has been confirmed that the concrete surface is finally being replaced.

    The Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers says Highways England has confirmed that £10m has been allocated to repair and replace the road, with work starting later this year.

    Mr Vickers said:

    “I am delighted that a commitment to replace the concrete surface has finally been made. The current surface is a nuisance to drivers but more importantly local residents who have to constantly put up with the noise of heavy traffic driving on the concrete road.”

    “The new surface will, I am assured, be long-life whilst far less noisy than the current surface. This will be of great relief to resident who have put up with this road for long enough.”

    Humberside Police still "requires improvement" according to the latest report from the police watchdog.

    The report, by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service, looked at the effectiveness of the force, from keeping vulnerable people safe to tackling serious and organised crime.

    The report highlights improvements made at the force and its rating has been upgraded from "inadequate" in the previous report, to "requires improvement."

    The Humberside Police and Crime Commisisoner Keith Hunter said:

    "I am pleased the inspectors have recognised many of the improvements taking place within Humberside Police and the positive effect that is starting to be felt in our communities."

    Tributes have been paid to Red Arrows engineer Corporal Jonathan Bayliss who who killed in a crash at RAF Valley on Tuesday.

    The 41-year-old was part of small group of engineers know as 'the Circus'.

    The pilot, Flight Left-tenant David Stark, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

    From today you'll be able to get your hands on a cheaper bus pass if you work in and around Lincoln.

    It's an extension of the current Lincoln BIG bus deal and knocks either £14 or £15 off a mega-rider fare depending on the destination.

    To be eligible for the Access Lincoln, external Bus Pass the employee's organisation will first need to complete a travel plan with Access Lincoln.

    A free 3 month bus pass will also be offered to job seekers.

    It hoped it will encourage more people to use public transport and travel more sustainably.

    Local elections could be held less often in North East Lincolnshire, as part of plans to save the council hundreds of thousands of pounds.

    At the moment a vote is held nearly every year, with a third of councillors elected each time.

    At a meeting tonight, the council will consider the possibility of electing councillors all in one go, every four years.

    The ambulance service which covers northern Lincolnshire admits it needs to do more to hit its response targets, but says it needs more resources.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) bosses have been responding to questions from the Lincolnshire Health Scrutiny Committee.

    The chief executive of EMAS, Richard French said it has been a particularly hard winter across the whole sector and the service is continuing to make progress to improve response times.

    Red arrows jets remain grounded as investigations continue into the crash at RAF Valley on Tuesday, which killed engineer Corporal Jonathan Bayliss.

    The Hawk aircraft, which is used by the aerobatic display team, crashed on Anglesey at about 13:30.

    Eyewitnesses said they only saw one person eject from the jet before it hit the ground and burst into flames.

    The RAF has described the incident as a "tragic accident".

    Plans to invest more than £7m in Cleethorpes have been announced.

    North East Lincolnshire Council says the money will be spent on improving town centre streets, enhancing historic buildings and bringing events to the area.

    Police in Cleethorpes are looking into an alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl.

    It happened in the North Sea Lane area of the town as the girl was waiting at a bus stop at around 09:00 this morning.

    The girl says she was approached by a man on crutches who tried to push her towards a white van.

    She managed to get away and get home safely, unhurt.

    The man is described as in his 50s, thin, around 5ft 9ins and wearing a black beanie hat, a black zip up fleece and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes on the legs.

    The names of councillors in North Lincolnshire who fail to pay council tax are to be published online.

    The council's cabinet unanimously voted through the plans after a freedom of information request revealed a senior councillor was taken to court over failing to pay some council tax from 2016 to 2017.

    The names will be published on the council's website every six months.

    Plans have been unveiled which could see a new train station being built on the East Coast Mainline, connecting people living in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire to Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

    About a million people fly from the airport every year, but it wants to increase that to eight million by 2037.

    It's hoped the new station, if it gets the go-ahead, could be up and running in the next five years.

    South Holland District Council is set to write off debts of over £130,000 which it claims are uncollectable.

    The council's cabinet will be asked to approve the measure at a meeting in Spalding on 27 March for £132,787.67 deemed to be "irrecoverable".

    Almost three quarters of the amount comes in the form of uncollected business rates. Other debts include unpaid council tax and housing benefit overpayments.

    People across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire could soon get a train to Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

    That's if plans for a new station at the airport get the go-ahead.

    The airport wants a stop added to the East Coast Mainline.

    A meeting is being held today in which a new masterplan is being unveiled.

    Around 1m people fly from Doncaster Sheffield every year, but the airport wants to increase that to 8m by 2037.

    Dan Fell, chief executive of Doncaster Chamber of Commerce, says if all goes to plan, the station could go from drawing board to reality within five years.
