Scarlet Fever is not uncommon at this time of the year but in the past ten weeks there have been 183 cases in Lincolnshire.

That compares to 93 for the same period last year, and 73 cases in 2016.

Public Health England says it's monitoring the numbers, but that it is not unusual to see a jump in cases every four to five years, and it could also be down to better reporting of the illness.

It's very contagious but usually mild.

Symptoms include a sore throat, headache and fever with a rash.

Doctors say early treatment with antibiotics is important to reduce the risk of complications with the spread of the infection.
