    Reports of hate crime against children in our area have almost doubled in the last two years.

    Humberside Police say there were 68 incidents of children suffering bullying because of their race or faith last year.

    The NSPCC is concerned many children are suffering in silence.

    Sergeant Nick Bunker from Humberside Police says it's important this type of abuse is reported:

    Figures would suggest only 23% of hate crimes are reported to the police. We'd urge people to report abuse like this, so we can look at what we can put in place to try and stop people being targeted because of their race and religion."

    Farmers in Lincolnshire have been welcoming Prince Charles' announcement of the Farm Resilience Programme.

    Yesterday the Prince visited the county, including Louth Livestock Market, to say the scheme would be coming to the county.

    It's designed to help smaller family farms by setting up networks and putting on workshops as well as offering one-to-one advice.

    Sheep Farmer Caroline Chapman was at the market, she says it can be hard for smaller farms.

    She says it's very important to be able to join a network with other farmers in similar positions.

    The programme will work with 20 farms from the county, and registration , externalis now open.

    It's been confirmed a new medical school will be created in Lincolnshire as the government looks to tackle the county's shortage of doctors.

    It's going to be based at the University of Lincoln and opens in 2019, when it's up and running it'll offer 400 training places.

    Students will study for a University of Nottingham BMBS medical degree at the University of Lincoln site on the Brayford Pool.

    Clinical placements will take place at hospitals, GP surgeries and other healthcare units in the county with United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

    For one night and one night only, Lincoln City FC brotherly duo Danny and Nicky Cowley will go head to head for "Cowley v Cowley: Battle of the Imps, external".

    The brothers will be putting their usual partnership behind them as they captain teams for a panel game show.

    Their teams' knowledge of all things Lincoln City will be tested.

    Police helicopter crews flying over Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are now using protective eyewear to protect them from laser attacks.

    Three years ago,Yorkshire had the highest number of attacks in the UK, despite it being a criminal offence.

    A new school for excluded children in Lincoln could get the go-ahead later this week.

    Plans have been submitted by the Wellspring Academy Trust for the St Giles estate.

    If approved, the free school would teach more than 60 children.

    A decision is expected on Thursday.

    A drone passed within 30m of a passenger jet as it prepared to land at East Midlands Airport, new data has revealed.

    The Boeing 737 passenger jet was preparing to land at East Midlands Airport in severe weather when the drone passed close to a wing.

    According to the UK Airprox Board report a collision was only "narrowly avoided" during the incident in October 2016.

    The number of near misses between aircraft and drones have more than tripled in just two years with incidents near Heathrow and Gatwick as well as Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol.

    Swans are dying after flying into power lines in Lincolnshire, it is claimed.

    Josh Jones, who posted this tweet , externalfrom one incident, claims four other birds have died near the scene on a 100m stretch at Baston Fen.

    Mr Jones said in his tweet the power lines were not fitted with diverters that enable the birds to avoid the cables.

    Western Power Distribution who are responsible for the power lines responded in a tweet saying they were looking into the incidents.

    Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust also replied to the tweet, saying they're not the first to be killed in this way.

  15. Man, 20, fired ball bearing gun in fracaspublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2018

    A 20-year-old who fired a ball bearing gun into the face of a man has been sentenced to three years and 10 months detention.

    Kirk Bristow fired the shots after a couple intervened to stop him assaulting a 17-year-old girl.

    The incident happened in McDonald's car park in Lincoln's Carlton Centre.

    Bristow, also known as Kirk Davies from Keats Close, Lincoln, was headbutted by the man.

    Bristow pleaded guilty to possessing a gas-powered firearm plus other charges including three charges of assault by beating.

    Prince Charles is the president of the National Trust which owns Tattershall Castle.

    The 15th Century red brick building was built by Lord Ralph Cromwell and saved from demolition in 1911.

    Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information after a burglary in Swineshead, near Boston, at the weekend.

    Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to talk to after a window was smashed and the suspect entered the premises of the FH Bates and Sons road haulage firm between 00:22 and 03:00 on Sunday.
