    Demonstrators against plans to remove the Toll Bar roundabout near Grimsby will be making their voices heard at tonight's mayor-making ceremony.

    They'll be protesting on the steps of Grimsby Town Hall against plans to replace the roundabout with traffic lights.

    North East Lincolnshire Council says it's reviewing the proposals but campaigners say they'll continue their fight.

    The work on Roman Bank is part of the £5.7m Go Skegness project.

    Lincolnshire County Council says it aims to make it easier for people to get around the resort without using a car.

    A Scunthorpe project which helps people with mental health issues get into work has secured another year's funding.

    Ongo's Looking-Up , externalproject provides counselling, confidence building and links with businesses.

    Last year the scheme helped more than 100 people, with some moving on to full-time employment.

    Funding for the project has come from the Job Centre Plus.

    Footballers in Lincoln could soon have two new pitches to play on after plans were drawn up by council leisure chiefs.

    Under proposals being considered by City of Lincoln Council, two new 3G artificial football pitches would be built at the Yarborough (above) and Birchwood Leisure Centres.

    The improvements, which follow on from extensive refurbishment at both leisure centres, would also include new lighting at both pitches, as well as a new running track.

    A woman from Lincolnshire who died in the terror attacks in Tunisia in 2015 is among those named on a new memorial, which has been officially dedicated in a ceremony today.

    Carly Lovett, from Gainsborough, was killed while on holiday on the beach resort of Sousse.

    The memorial, entitled Still Water, has been created at the National Memorial Arboretum , externalnear Lichfield to remember all those who have died in terror attacks abroad.

    The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall joined families of victims of overseas terrorism at the ceremony in Staffordshire.

    Deeping Rangers, Spalding United and Grantham Town would love to play at Wembley - but, for this season at least, this is the closest they will get.

    Their name appeared under the famous arch as part of a brilliant time-lapse video made by the FA to celebrate all the sides that took part in the FA Cup competition this year.

    It's hard to imagine now with the sun shining down on Lincolnshire this week, but just a few weeks ago we were blanketed in snow.

    And as the big freeze took hold an army of volunteers swung into action to help people who couldn't get out or who got stuck in the drifts.

    Tonight, some of those "snow heroes" will be given special awards at a Lincolnshire Police ceremony.

    The force asked for people to nominate those who had helped them when the so-called "Beast from the East" hit earlier this year.

    The ceremony will take place at Hemswell Court near Lincoln from 18:00.

  12. Petition forces council to discuss sale of playing fieldspublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 17 May 2018

    A petition with more than 2,500 signatures against plans to sell a Scunthorpe playing field for housing is being considered by North Lincolnshire Council today.

    But new rules around petitions means it would fail to qualify for discussion in future.

    The number of signatures required to trigger a full council debate is being raised from 1,500 to 5% of the electorate - about 6,400 signatures.

    People living in Market Deeping are planning to hold a protest later today over plans to sell off what they describe as a "green space" in the community.

    The county council own some land off Mill Field Road (above) and officers have proposed it's sale to raise money for the authority.

    The space is currently let by a tenant farmer but it's also used as a recreational space by people in the town and hosted the local show for several years.

    A campaign's been set up, external to try and stop the sale because locals say its been used a recreation site for more than 20 years.

  14. Watch: Lancaster's memorial flightpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 17 May 2018

    Having surprised people in South Yorkshire this morning as it cut across clear blue skies, this Lancaster bomber finally made a flypast at Derwent Dam.

    The event involving the plane was scheduled for yesterday but had to be changed owing to low cloud at Derwent.

    Today's flight saw a special passenger on the plane; the remaining British Dambusters crew member, Sqn Ldr George 'Johnny' Johnson.

  15. Dambusters veteran back from anniversary flightpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 17 May 2018

    After all the confusion of yesterday, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster Bomber finally flew over the Derwent Valley earlier today.

    It was all so the last surviving British Dambuster George "Johnny" Johnson could once again experience the aircraft he flew in during the famous raids 75 years ago.

    And here's a lovely picture of him when he landed again back at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's headquarters at RAF Coningsby:

    Four of Lincolnshire's beaches have retained their prestigious Blue Flag status for another year.

    The central beaches at Skegness, Ingoldmells, Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea all made the grade.

    The award recognises water quality, facilities, safety, environmental education and management.

    Grimsby's historic Ice Factory could soon be given a new lease of life.

    Plans have been revealed to spend almost £4m on the Kasbah area of the docks, which has fallen into disrepair.

    The five-year Great Grimsby Town Deal will see buildings restored into offices, shops, bars and restaurants.

    The redevelopment is a partnership between heritage body Historic England, the local council, and landowner Associated British Ports.

  19. Lancaster Bomber spotted in skies over South Yorkshirepublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 17 May 2018

    A surprise sight in the skies over South Yorkshire this morning has caused a lot of chatter on social media.

    The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster Bomber, which couldn't take part in a Dambusters 75th flypast yesterday at Derwent Dam yesterday because of low cloud, has been spotted in clear blue skies today instead.

    Onboard was the sole remaining British member of the Dambusters crew, Sqn Ldr George "Johnny" Johnson, MBE, DFM.

    The evocative thrum of the plane's Merlin engines has been heard over Rotherham and Stocksbridge and the BBMF Lancaster, usually based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, has been spotted.

  20. Ambulance cash boost 'will improve response times'published at 09:32 British Summer Time 17 May 2018

    Ambulance crews in Lincolnshire will reach more emergency calls within government target times after the service was given millions more in funding, health bosses claim.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) says rural areas like Lincolnshire will benefit after health managers across the region agreed to pump an extra £19m a year into the service.

    EMAS says the money will pay for 300 extra staff - most of them on the frontline but also some in the control room.

    The trust says it now aims to hit all its response time targets by next April, something it hasn't achieved for years.
