  12. Family discovers carbon monoxide threat after gas faultpublished at 09:00 British Summer Time 14 May 2018

A Lincolnshire family says a gas fault in their village which saw supplies cut off earlier this month ended up saving their lives.

    Zoe Cliffe

Thousands of homes in Saxilby lost their supplies over the bank holiday weekend and took several days to be reinstated.

But the Cliffe family say that when engineers visited their house they discovered carbon monoxide had been leaking into the family home.

They had a working carbon monoxide detector, but it was positioned about 1ft too low and unable to sense the build-up of the deadly gas.

Zoe Cliffe says the family hadn't been feeling well for some time:

    Quote Message

We felt quite light-headed, fuzzy headed...My husband would get headaches but only when he came back from working at the weekend. Since the gas has been turned off none of us have been poorly, all I can say is thank god for the Saxilby gas leak."
