Now you might have had your fill of royal wedding news by now but let me tell you about our county's connection to the big day before I promise to shut up about it.

The brooch in the centre of the tiara she was wearing was given to the Queen's grandmother, Queen Mary, as a wedding present by the then County of Lincoln in 1893.

Alison Hall, whose usual job is - ironically - to help reunite lost dogs with their owners, has had the tables turned just a little bit after losing her pet parrot Charlie.

Charlie's a 15-year-old female African Grey who slipped from her carrying case in Grainthorpe last week and flew off in the direction of Fulstow.

Alison was dropping off Charlie and her other parrot Treacle with her sister on Thursday when the escape act took place.

Since then, Alison and her husband say they've travelled hundreds of miles every day in a bid to try and find the parrot which has gone AWOL.

Alison says Charlie is able to sing the classic Monty Python song Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, can count aloud to six and also has a tendency to order dogs about.

If you've seen or heard Charlie, you're being asked to contact BBC Radio Lincolnshire and staff there will put you in touch with Alison.

    Khia Lewis-Todd
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A former member of the RAF in Lincolnshire says he's fortunate to have avoided deportation as part of the Windrush scandal and is calling for more action to help families affected.

    Sidney McFarlane

Sidney McFarlane, who came to the UK from Jamaica in 1955, says he's only avoided the scandal because he signed up for National Service.

Last week, the Home Office launched a month-long call for evidence to help Commonwealth citizens who lost jobs and were denied access to NHS treatment and benefits.

Mr McFarlane says immigrants' contributions are being ignored:

    Quote Message
