    A Lincolnshire village is getting its pub back two years after it shut its doors.

    The Sebastopol Inn in Minting was put up for sale and earmarked for housing, much to the dismay of people living there.

    Local residents clubbed together to buy it - but couldn't raise the money.

    However, it's now been bought by Wendy and Steven Hughes.

    Ahead of the first pint being pulled tonight, Mrs Hughes says they already feel part of the community:

    One lane is currently partially blocked on the A15 Broadgate in Lincoln.

    It's because of an accident near St Rumbold's Street.

    This is going to cause some problems this morning as it's one of the major routes into the city.

    Rail passengers in Lincolnshire face disruption as Northern staff stage a 24-hour strike, days after travel chaos when new timetables were introduced.

    RMT union members at Northern are striking in an ongoing dispute about safety involving driver-only operated trains.

    The union said the train operator had declared "war on passengers".

    Northern called for "meaningful" talks and said the majority of trains would run between 07:00 and 19:00.

    The firm faced widespread criticism over cancellations, delays and the implementation of a new timetable on Monday.

    Improving Northern's train services are the Department for Transport's number one performance priority, the government has said.

    It comes amid widespread criticism of the company over cancellations, delays and the implementation of a new timetable earlier this week.

    Chris Grayling said plans to improve the company's performance had been submitted and he will be speaking to managers to discuss future steps.

    Lincoln City have offered new deals to Sean Long, Richard Walton and Elliott Whitehouse.

    Whitehouse, 24, scored four goals in 43 outings and netted the winner in the Checkatrade Trophy victory over Shrewsbury at Wembley in April.

    Long, 23, played 26 times this season as the Imps reached the play-off semi-finals, where they lost 3-1 to Exeter City on aggregate.

    Back-up keeper Walton, 20, did not make a first-team appearance in 2017-18.

    Meanwhile, Billy Knott has been released and Cameron Stewart has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

    Cleethorpe's new lifeboat station has finally been granted planning permission.

    The plans for the station, which have been on hold for several years now, were approved by North East Lincolnshire Council's planning committee, external today.

    The new station will be built on the beach, in front of the existing station, with its own slipway, better facilities for volunteers and new lifeboat.

    Construction is expected to start in December.

    As we told you earlier, the Scampton-based Red Arrows are no match for nesting birds in Great Yarmouth - the team have had to change their flight paths to avoid disturbing the little tern colonies during the Great Yarmouth Air Show.

    The Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has apologised after major disruption on the railways - following the introduction of new timetables at the beginning of this week.

    He said a late submission of final times by Network Rail was to blame for the problems experienced on Monday.

    Hundreds of services were cancelled, including one-in-seven Northern Rail services.

    A 25-year-old man arrested by armed police at the University of Lincoln earlier was wanted in connection with a burglary, in which a man was hit with a pickaxe.

    Men wearing face-coverings forced their way into a property on Norfolk Street in Worksop on 14 May.

    The victim was left with non-life threatening head injuries after the attack.

    One of the men was believed to be armed with a shotgun.

    A man and woman have already appeared in court in connection with the incident.

    Today's arrest was at the request of Nottinghamshire Police and officers said the man didn't have a weapon on him.

    The government's been accused of passing responsibility for cutting pollution to local councils, which are to be given new powers to improve air quality.

    Scunthorpe Labour MP Nic Dakin says there is a lack of detail in the government's new clean air strategy and accuses ministers of passing the buck.

    Recent research revealed Scunthorpe and Hull were among the places with the worst air pollution in the UK.

    The government say its increasing targets for renewable fuels, which will double their use, and is looking at the potential introduction of E10 petrol - which is a mix of unleaded and ethanol.

  16. Rare birds cause Red Arrows to change air show planspublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 23 May 2018

    The Lincolnshire-based Red Arrows are being forced to change their flight path at an air show because of rare nesting birds.

    Great Yarmouth Air Show is in talks with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) over a new route to avoid disturbing little tern colonies at Scroby Sands and the beach at North Denes.

    A show organiser said it was "frustrating" having to make adjustments with just three weeks to go.

    The RSPB and Natural England have raised concerns with the CAA about the show starring the world famous Coningsby-based aerobatic team.

    The terns are among the UK's rarest sea birds and are protected by law.

    Show director Kevin Marsh said there was "never a threat to the show".

    "The CAA didn't understand their responsibility with regards to protecting the habitat," he added.

    The show, which was cancelled last year, has cost some £650,000 to stage and 175,000 people are expected to attend.
