Police 'over the moon' over upskirting law changepublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 15 June 2018
Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) says he's "over the moon" that so-called "upskirting" is to be made a specific criminal offence.
Upskirting, or secretly taking photographs up skirts or dresses, will come with a punishment of up to two years in prison.
The government's confirmed it will back a Private Member's Bill which is being presented to the Commons today.
Lincolnshire PCC Marc Jones, who has vocally supported the idea, says he welcomes the introduction of the new law:
Quote MessageWe've had situations in Lincolnshire over recent months where this has happened. It's a hugely invasive and degrading problem for people, so I'm really over the moon to see that."
