    It involves using a strong magnet to pick metal up from riverbeds.

    The Sleaford Magnet Fishing Group, external go out regularly and find lots of things including scrap metal, a padlock and even a meat cleaver.

    Members of the group say it's a good way to get out the house, have some fun, and help clean up the waterways.

    Resurfacing work is taking place this week in the Wragby Road area of Lincoln.

    It's part of the ongoing work to improve the busy stretch of road including adding extra lanes.

    The expansion work has already happened and this week is about putting the road back together.

    It'll be taking place from 09:00 to 15:00.

    The man in charge of highways in Lincolnshire, Councillor Richard Davies says there will be congestion caused by this work, but this will make it better in the future: "Short term pain, for longer term gain. In six months time the road will flow much easier.

    He added: "You will see a benefit, just bear with us while we're doing the work."

    If you're a listener to BBC Radio Lincolnshire you'll remember 18 months ago newsreader Charlotte Wright suffered a cardiac arrest while out jogging.

    She survived thanks to a passing motorist in Lincoln who gave her life-saving CPR.

    Well she's taken part in a challenge to set a new world record of creating the largest gathering of cardiac arrest survivors.

    And they did it, with 127 survivors coming to the event in Essex.

    It also promoted the importance of CPR training.

    A wing has been damaged on West Common.

    It's one of 100, which make up trails around the county telling stories of the RAF in Lincolnshire to commemorate the service's 100th anniversary.

    Police are investigating a break-in at a dental surgery in Skegness.

    The police say it happened at Bupa Dental Care over the weekend.

    Drugs and a blank prescription pad were stolen.

    Officers are particularly concerned about a particular drug stolen, Midazolam Oromucosal, as it can be very dangerous.

    An appeal is being made for witnesses.

    Sobriety tags will be used across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to reduce alcohol-related crime.

    The tag, which can tell when someone has had a drink, has been trialed in Grimsby and Boston on offenders who commit crimes when drunk, because of the high levels of alcohol-related violence in those areas.

    It is estimated that alcohol plays a part in 25% of all offences reported and up to 40% of domestic abuse offences in those areas.

    Seventy offenders were tagged as part of the pilot. Police and Crime Commissioners support the Humberside, Lincolnshire & North Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company , externalplans to roll out the scheme.

    Those involved say it's proved very successful.

    A pensioner was robbed in Grimsby, external over the weekend.

    The 81-year-old had an envelope containing his passport, birth certificate and sentimental items stolen from him on Rendel Street at about 13:30 on Saturday.

    The suspect is described as white, 6ft tall, with fair hair, and was wearing blue shorts, t-shirt and trainers.

  10. Suspected chemical leak in Holbeachpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Five fire engines have been called to a manufacturing plant at Holbeach Hurn after a possible chemical leak.

    Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue say police and ambulance are also at the scene on Marsh Lane.

    Four members of staff at the plant have been assisted by fire crews, although it's not known if there are any serious injuries.

    A woman's been seriously hurt in a collision with a lorry in Grantham.

    The police say it happened on High Street just before 12:00.

    The woman has been taken for treatment at QMC in Nottingham.

    High Street is closed in both directions causing serious disruption to traffic in the town centre.

    Officers are looking for three men in connection with two burglaries, external which happened on the same night at a pub in Cleethorpes.

    Both break-ins happened at Willy's pub on High Cliff Road between 04:30 and 06:00 on Monday 28 April.

    In the first instance two men allegedly got in by smashing a glass door.

    They broke a fruit machine open before stealing cash and leaving.

    Around an hour later another man got in through the smashed door and allegedly stole two bottles of spirits from behind the bar.

    Police are appealing for information.

    West Lindsey District Council has granted planning permission for Lincoln City Football Club to begin work on a new elite performance centre near RAF Scampton.

    The £1.3m development will be based on a 12.3 acre site on Heath Lane.

    The club are calling it a vital development for their progression.

    The centre will include three grass pitches, a gym, changing rooms and offices.

    The company has three stores in Hull, two in Scunthorpe, and has one each in Grimsby, Goole, Lincoln, Boston and Grantham.

    Talks with a potential buyer at the weekend failed to produce a deal to save the chain.

    A man has appeared before Lincoln Magistrates charged with the murder of a woman in Louth.

    27-year-old Shane Murphy is accused of killing 35-year-old Marie Gibson.

    Her body was discovered after police were called to her home in Lacey Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

    District Judge Peter Veits remanded Murphy, of Little Lane in Louth, in custody, and he is expected to appear at Lincoln Crown Court tomorrow.

    Lincolnshire's Red Arrows have given the England team a flypast to wish them good luck ahead of the World Cup.

    The Lincolnshire-based Reds were heading back to RAF Scampton from the RAF Cosford Airshow to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.

    Wing Cdr Neil Hope said: "We were pleased to be able to complete a flypast over St George's Park as a good luck gesture to Gareth Southgate and his squad.

    "The RAF and RAF Football Association send their best wishes to the England team for a successful summer."

    Southgate and the England squad jet out to Russia this week.
