    The proposed relocation of the Leicester-based East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre, which is used by children in Lincolnshire, has been approved, it's been announced.

    The centre will move from Glenfield Hospital to Leicester Royal Infirmary, the University of Leicester Hospitals Trust says.

    After protests (pictured), the centre was saved from closure last year, but to meet the standards set by NHS England it will transfer to the Kensington Building.

    The move will create a stand-alone Children's Hospital in the city and all of Leicester's children's services will be under one roof for the first time.

    It is expected to happen by March 2020.

    There are concerns about plans for a 250-home development near Scunthorpe.

    The proposal is for the land south of Moorwell Road in Yaddlethorpe.

    Residents and councillors fear it could have adverse impact on traffic in the area.

    A decision on the proposals is expected to be made by the council later.

    A man's been left with a serious head injury after being assaulted in Mablethorpe.

    It happened in the early hours of this morning outside Jester's Bar in the resort.

    The victim, a 40-year-old man, has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

    The suspect is described as a white man in his twenties.

    Officers have cordoned off the scene and are making extensive inquiries to identify the offender.

    Organisers say they are pleased that the number of traders - about 600 - has remained consistent, despite tougher times for high street stores.

    The body of a man found in water at Hobhole Drain, near Sibsey, is that of missing Anthony Warner, police have confirmed.

    Mr Warner, 34, disappeared after leaving his home in Wrangle, near Boston, on 7 June.

    His body was found in a drainage channel along with a vehicle on Monday morning.

    His family has been informed and police are continuing with their enquiries.

    A coroner's inquest will be opened in due course, according to police.

    Officers would like to hear from anyone with information about this incident.

    The head of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT) says he can't give any assurances about when Grantham's A&E department will reopen.

    A new strategy to tackle homelessness has been launched in Lincolnshire - after the amount of rough sleepers more than tripled in six years.

    The district councils and Lincolnshire County Council are working with a number of other agencies to tackle and prevent rough sleeping.

    Part of the strategy includes a £1.3m project - Action Lincs - which began last year and delivers support to 120 rough sleepers in the county.

    A body found at the scene of a road traffic collision could be that of a missing man, police say.

    The family of Anthony Warner, from Wrangle near Boston, have been informed after the body of a man was found near a waterway at Sibsey, near Boston, yesterday.

    A vehicle was also found in the water but no formal identification has been made at this stage.

    The emergency services in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire are reminding people who make hoax calls of the dangers they could be putting other people in.

    The warning comes after reports of a serious incident in the early hours of Monday morning.

    Police, three fire engines and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were all called to the scene - which turned out to have been a hoax.

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service says these types of calls could be deadly for people who genuinely need urgent help.

    There's three more days of strike action on Northern trains this week, starting today.

    RMT union members have walked out for 24-hours in the long-running dispute over the role of guards on trains.

    Northern, which operates trains in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, says it will run as many services as possible during peak times.

    There will be further strike action on Thursday and Saturday.

  17. Witness appeal after girl, 12, hurt in dog attackpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 18 June 2018

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old girl was bitten on the nose by a dog in Lincoln.

    The girl was walking with her younger brother in the King George Field in St Giles between 20:00 and 20:30 on Wednesday 13 June when a large black dog, off the lead, attacked theirs.

    She tried to separate the two and was bitten, causing a puncture wound.

    The dog's owner is said to be a white man in his 30s with short, shaved hair.

    The man did stop and apologise but didn't leave any contact details, police say.
