RMT members at Northern rail to stage 24-hour strikepublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 18 June 2018
Members of the RMT union are due to hold another strike tomorrow in a continuing row with rail operator Northern about driver-only trains.
The trade union is calling for last minute talks to try and resolve issues between the two parties.
The union argues passenger safety would be put at risk by getting rid of guards and extending driver-only services.
Tomorrow's planned strike comes at a time when Northern is facing mounting pressure over disruption caused by implementing a new timetable.
Northern says it's committed to delivering a modern service for customers.
Quote MessageThe May timetable problems and the latest RMT strike action will not deter us from delivering our modernisation plans for customers: £500m of new trains which are currently under construction, better stations and more services by 2020."
