    Now, though, there are worries about high temperatures causing issues, with organisers warning runners to stock up on water after forecasters predicted temperatures as high as 24C (75F).

    They recommend that runners wear their hats and "dress appropriately for the weather".

    Boston born boxer Callum Johnson is in the running for a world title, his promoters have confirmed.

    The 32-year-old will contest a world title for the first time when he takes on Russian Artur Beterbiev on October 6.

    Johnson won the British light-heavyweight title after beating Frank Buglioni in March.

    Hundreds of people have joined a campaign against what they say are "unfair" fuel prices in Sleaford.

    Campaigners say prices at the pumps in the town are consistently higher than anywhere else in the county.

    Some independent petrol price trackers say costs in the small market town are more than in affluent London boroughs such as Kensington and Chelsea.

    Prices of unleaded today in Sleaford are at least a penny a litre more expensive than at stations in Boston, Grantham and Lincoln.

    But some prices in the town are as much as 7p more a litre than elsewhere in the county.

    Campaigners fighting to keep one of North Lincolnshire's oldest traditions alive are hoping to get public support at a meeting tonight.

    The Haxey Hood is contested by patrons of pubs in the neighbouring villages of Haxey and Westwoodside, and can run for hours.

    The Hood, a leather tube about one metre in length, is pushed in a scrum until it reaches one of four pubs.

    There are concerns for the future of the tradition, because of plans to build homes on the site of one of the pubs involved.

    The crash happened at about 13:30 today on a bend three miles from the village, to the north of Lincoln.

    Police say there have been injuries but have released no further details.

    A woman has appeared in court charged with wounding with intent after a man was hit by a car in Crowland on Sunday night.

    The man, in his 40s, was left with serious injuries and is still in hospital after being hit by a black Peugeot 307 near Ye Olde Bridge Inn.

    Alison Skingsly, 42, of Thames Road, Spalding, has appeared in court charged with wounding with intent and failing to comply with a breathalyser test.

    She has been remanded in custody and will face trial at Lincoln Crown Court at the end of July.

    Narrow boat adventurers have just set off to cross The Wash in a 160 mile (257km) voyage to navigate underused waterways.

    Members of the Cotswolds Canal Cruising Club, external navigate the open sea from Boston to Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, before carrying on to Bedford.

    The seven boats started this morning and hope to finish on 13 July, in time for the 40th Bedford River Festival.

    Public Health England have issued health warnings because of high temperatures expected this week.

    Lincolnshire is expected to experience very warm weather over the coming days, with temperatures reaching as high as 25C.

    Though it's expected to be cooler at the coast.

    The health authority say some older people, or those with underlying health conditions, could be at risk in high heat.

    Councillors in Lincolnshire have expressed concerns over what they call "slow progress" on making improvements to a major service contract.

    The community project has been unveiled at Hildreds Shopping Centre in Skegness today with the aim of encouraging people to chat to a "banter buddy" to help combat loneliness.

    It's being run by the East Lindsey Talk, Eat, Drink group, which run events to tackle the problem among older people.

    Archaeologists have begun work to uncover the remains of an important medieval building in Lincoln.

    The excavation (pictured) will uncover remains of the only medieval friary to serve the north of the city.

    Very little is known about the history of the friary despite the importance of the building in the medieval period.

    Archaeologists from Bishop Grosseteste University, external say the dig may also stumble across remains from the Roman period including a road.

    There will be an open day for people to see any artifacts discovered on July 7.

    A fund of £2m is being made available in Scunthorpe to help people who are out of work.

    North Lincolnshire Council is inviting voluntary groups and businesses in the town to apply for a share of the money.

    The authority says the aim is to support the unemployed and work with businesses to create more jobs.

    It says it hopes the money will be used to help more than 1,000 people.
